Huckabee on Kanye West running for president: Its going to be a rude awakening – Fox News

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee weighed in on rapper Kanye West’s announcement on the Fourth of July that he is going to run for president, saying “it's a free country” and “he can certainly run.” “I think he's going to be surprised to find out all of the incredible limitations upon his entertainment career the moment he becomes an official candidate for president,” Huckabee told “Fox & Friends Weekend” on Sunday. “All of the vast financial reporting that he's going to be required to do and all of the disclosures, some of which are not going to be pleasant for someone in the entertainment industry, and all of the limitations on the money he can earn and how he can spend it.” “I think it's going to be a rude awakening,” he continued. Since then, though, i...

Patient contracts rare brain-eating amoeba in Florida – New York Post

A patient in Florida has contracted a rare, brain-eating amoeba, according to health officials. The Florida Department of Health said Friday that a case of the often-fatal amoeba called Naegleria fowleri was detected in Hillsborough County. The parasite is found naturally in freshwater and can be life-threatening when it enters the body through the nose, causing a condition known as primary amebic meningoencephalitis that destroys brain tissue, health officials said. The infection is more likely to occur in July, August and September when the water is warmer, the agency said. “Naegleria fowleri is found in many warm freshwater lakes, ponds and rivers in the United States, but is more common in southern states,” the agency said. “The low number of infections makes it diff...

Gottlieb says U.S. “right back where we were” at earlier peak of coronavirus outbreak – CBS News

Washington — Dr. Scott Gottlieb, the former commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration, warned Sunday that the United States is "right back where we were" when the country experienced its first peak in coronavirus infections earlier this year. "We're right back where we were at the peak of the epidemic during the New York outbreak," Gottlieb said on "Face the Nation." "The difference now is that we really had one epicenter of spread when New York was going through its hardship. Now we really have four major epicenters of spread: Los Angeles, cities in Texas, cities in Florida and Arizona. And Florida looks to be in the worst shape, and Georgia is heating up as well, and that's concerning." Forty states have reported a surge in confirmed coronavirus cases as they began to lift restr...
