Ennio Morricone 10 best film scores – Los Angeles Times

Ennio Morricone wasn’t just the most important film composer of the 20th century, he was also the busiest. Morricone, who died Monday in Rome at age 91, is best known for his early work with Italian “spaghetti western” director Sergio Leone on movies including “A Fistful of Dollars” and “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.” A sublimely in-your-face composer, during his prime Morricone crafted music that went against a central tenet of the form. He didn’t offer subtle emotional guidance or heartstring-pulling obviousness. Rather, his scores added entire new layers and tones to movies. Serving as sort of whimsical, opinionated Greek chorus — one that could turn dark and sinister in a flash — his work played a co-starring role. Below, 10 essential Morricone scores. Ennio Morricone. Actors’ Equity Signs Off on Live Theater in the Berkshires – The New York Times

For the first time since the coronavirus pandemic erupted, Actors’ Equity is agreeing to allow a few of its members to perform onstage. The union, which represents 51,000 actors and stage managers around the country, said it had given the green light to two summer shows in the Berkshires region of Western Massachusetts: an outdoor production of the musical “Godspell,” and an indoor production of the solo show “Harry Clarke.” In recent weeks, multiple theaters featuring nonunion actors have begun resuming performances — in some cases outdoors, and in almost all cases with social distancing — and a group of Equity actors collectively developed an outdoor performance piece in New York’s Hudson Valley. And, of course, many actors have been performing online. But “Godspell” and “Harry Clarke,...

Milton teen fighting for her life against COVID-19; family begs people to wear masks – Pensacola News Journal

Just two weeks ago, 16-year-old Halene O'Connell was a normal, healthy teenage girl, ready to start the summer before her senior year at Milton High School.  But today, she's in a coma and on a ventilator fighting for her life at the Studer Family Children's Hospital at Ascension Sacred Heart in Pensacola, battling a severe case of COVID-19 — and her family is begging the community to wear masks and practice social distancing so they don't end up in a hospital bed too.  “We’re very private people, and this is a lot for us to share,” said Carmen Barlianto, Halene’s aunt, in a phone interview from her home in Washington state. “But I feel like we want everybody to know to wear a mask and social distance, so you don’t end up like poor Halene. It can happen to anyone, especially to people...

Los Angeles County Director of Public Health Barbara Ferrer reported 1,584 new coronavirus cases on Monday. She indicated that Monday numbers are usually lower due to a lag in testing. On Friday, Los Angeles County’s new daily coronavirus cases crossed the 3,000 mark, with a record 3,187 reported. Over the weekend, L.A.’s largest COVID testing site seems to have closed down with no explanation. When asked about the closure of the Dodger Stadium site a county official said, “It would be best to address those questions to the city.” The site is currently closed according to a report by NBC News and accounts on social media today. “Dodger Stadium is closed right now,” said an MSNBC. “When we called the City of Los Angeles, they said that this had something to do with s...

Disney Shared An Apple Pie Recipe From One Of Its Resorts And It Sounds So Comforting – Delish

I don't know about you, but the closest I typically get to baking a pie at any given moment is unwrapping a fresh Apple Pie Kit Kat or pulling up to the McDonald's drive-thru to get myself one. That said, even I will be pulling out my pie pan this week because Disney has shared an iconic apple pie recipe that will comfort you instantly. As they've been doing pretty much the whole time the parks have been closed, Disney shared the recipe on its blog this weekend alongside a delicious looking photo. This particular Disney apple pie is served at the Whispering Canyon Café at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. It fits in perfectly with the resort's rustic theme and just general coziness. One of the best parts about this pie, besides how good it tastes, is that you probably have the bulk of the...
