Coronavirus: ER doctor says trend just beginning for Orange County as hospitalizations spike – KABC-TV

ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. (KABC) -- Orange County has seen a 9.4% increase in hospitalizations over the last 3 days. It's been a trend for the last couple of weeks. "For Orange County specifically, I would say we're in the top of the 2nd inning. I mean, this is just the beginning. We've heard about it all over the country, but it's real now for us in Orange County," said Dr. James Keany, a doctor in the emergency department at Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo. Although they've seen an increase in COVID-19 patients, he says they've been able to manage it all inside the hospital. If they surpass 12 patients at any given time, they'll have to start using the triage tent outside. "Nobody knows what the future holds, but I can tell you, we're on a trajectory for a serious surge at this point. I ...

Ventura County ICUs and ERs are full with COVID-19 patients – Los Angeles Times

A coronavirus hospital surge plan is in place in Ventura County after emergency rooms and intensive care units filled up. During a Wednesday media briefing, Ventura County Executive Officer Michael Powers said that when he asked hospital staffers whether their facilities were filling up, they said they were already full. “That just says that even in a county like Ventura County, where we’ve been doing so well with keeping our numbers low, some of the lowest numbers in the state, even here this can happen. We could see this community spread and we could see a rise in hospital cases. I think this is a good wake-up call for us,” Powers said. There are 79 people hospitalized for acute COVID-19 care in the county, Ventura County Public Health Director Rigoberto Vargas said. In early June, t...

In June, the band formerly known as Lady Antebellum announced it would change its name to Lady A to remove any association with slavery. But weeks after appearing to reach an agreement with Seattle-based blues singer Anita White, who has been using the same name for more than a decade, the country group announced on Wednesday it is suing her.  "Today we are sad to share that our sincere hope to join together with Anita White in unity and common purpose has ended," the band members of Lady A said in a statement to CBS News. "She and her team have demanded a $10 million payment, so reluctantly we have come to the conclusion that we need to ask a court to affirm our right to continue to use the name Lady A, a trademark we have held for many years."
