COVID-19 heroes must jump through hoops for workers comp – Yahoo News

WASHINGTON (AP) — Lauded for their service and hailed as everyday heroes, essential workers who get the coronavirus on the job have no guarantee in most states they'll qualify for workers' compensation to cover lost wages and medical care. Fewer than one-third of the states have enacted policies that shift the burden of proof for coverage of job-related COVID-19 so workers like first responders and nurses don't have to show they got sick by reporting for a risky assignment. Debate over workers’ comp in the states is part of a much larger national discussion about liability for virus exposure, with Republicans in Congress seeking a broad shield for businesses in the next coronavirus relief bill. And for most employees going back to job sites as the economy reopens, there's even less protec...

Police Drama Series Set In Matt Reeves’ The Batman Universe Descends Upon HBO Max – Vulture

Given the city’s high-profile masked vigilante superhero, the role of the Gotham police department has always been murky, which is undoubtedly why they are now the focus of an HBO Max police drama. According to Variety, the as-yet untitled series will take place in the same universe as director Matt Reeves’ upcoming film The Batman, which stars Robert Pattison as the dark knight. The show, which already has a series commitment from the streaming service, will be written and co-executive produced by Terence Winter, the Sopranos alum and Boardwalk Empire creator who snagged an Academy Award nomination for writing Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street in 2013. If you’re wondering how this show will dif...

Cinderella’s Castle Paint Gets Mixed Reviews During Its Reveal, Reminding Some Of Archrival Sleeping Beauty – Deadline

The wicked stepmother isn’t the only one who has a complaint about Cinderella. Some Disney employees are chiming in as well, claiming they don’t like the new paint job on her Disney World castle. The Disney World theme park officially reopens tomorrow, July 11. But employees got a sneak preview of the changes awaiting all this week, including new safety features. However, one feature has particular buzz: Cinderella’s Castle. Once upon a time (actually, February of this year), Disney said it would be giving Cinderella’s Castle a royal makeover, a move timed to the animated film’s 70th anniversary. Part of that was a new paint job. “Walt Disney Imagineering helped select the new royal color scheme to give Cinderella Castle its glistening new look,” Magic Kingdom Park VP ...

The first clip showed one of the remotely operated underwater vehicles being used, a floating drone with cameras on it, connected to a boat via a cable, which according to the department is being used in addition to “side scan sonar, dogs, and divers.” The second clip demonstrates how the drones are operated via a handheld controller connected to a computer, with footage displayed on an attached screen.
