I May Destroy You: Why Michaela Coel Feels Very Little Pressure for People to Like The Show – Showbiz Cheat Sheet

It’s been a little over a month since Michaela Coel’s latest series I May Destroy You premiered on HBO. Still, the show has already become somewhat of a sensation. Intelligent humor juxtaposes with gut-wrenching moments as the audience watches the main character Arabella (played by Coel herself) cope with the aftermath of sexual assault. Michaela Coel | David M. Benett/Dave Benett/Getty Images for Hearst MagazinesFans of Coel will know that I May Destroy You is deeply personal to the actor. Like her previous show, Chewing Gum, Coel took inspiration from her personal life for the premise of I May Destroy You. But, despite investing so much of her life into the HBO drama, Coel revealed that she doesn’t put too much stock into how the show is being received. In fact, the 32...

Groundbreaking: Scientists create an air filter that kills the coronavirus – Hot Air

The coronavirus is spurring on all kinds of innovation and creativity from the scientific community as well as the business community. The main focus now is on developing a vaccine and therapeutic drugs to combat the virus. Businesses have shut down normal production of products and switched to manufacturing essential medical equipment, like ventilators, as well as personal protection equipment to meet the needs of hospitals and first responders. All of this is good. Meanwhile, researchers at the University of Houston (UH) have developed an air filter that kills the coronavirus. It is a “catch and kill” filter and it sounds really promising. It traps the virus and other pathogens and instantly kills them. The researchers teamed up with others to make it happen. Zhifeng Ren, director of th...

Smoking habits double number of young people vulnerable to severe COVID-19: study | TheHill – The Hill

A new study finds that smoking is doubling the number of young adults at high risk of severe COVID-19. Researchers at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) examined 8,405 respondents to the National Health Interview Survey aged 18 to 25 for the severe COVID-19 risk factors identified by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). They found that 32 percent of respondents had at least one of the risk factors, but half of those were in the vulnerable group because of a single risk factor: smoking within the last 30 days, according to the peer-reviewed study published Monday in the Journal of Adolescent Health. When that risk factor was removed, the percentage of medically vulnerable young people dropped to 16 percent. “Recent evidence indicates that smoki...

John Travoltas first love died of breast cancer 43 years before Kelly Preston – New York Post

Kelly Preston’s death from breast cancer Sunday was a tragic end to her 29-year marriage to John Travolta, which bore three children: Ella Bleu, Benjamin and the late Jett, who died in 2009 of a seizure. Preston’s passing at 57 is, sadly, not the first time 66-year-old Travolta has lost a significant other to breast cancer. In 1977, actress Diana Hyland, who the actor had been seriously dating for a year, died of the very same cause. At 41, she was 18 years older than 23-year-old Travolta, and somewhat scandalously played his mother in the TV movie “The Boy in the Plastic Bubble.” As soon as the cameras rolled, Travolta was smitten. “I thought I was in love before — but I wasn’t,” Travolta told People magazine in 1977. “From the moment I met her, I was attracted. We were l...
