DHSS reports 53 new COVID-19 cases in the state – KTUU

UPDATE: DHSS announced today there are 53 residents in 12 communities: Anchorage (31), Fairbanks (6), Eagle River (3), Valdez-Cordova Census Area (3), Ketchikan (2), Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area (2), Wasilla (2), Juneau (1), Kodiak Island Borough (1), Kusilvak Census Area (1) and Willow (1). There are also 4 new nonresident cases. Municipality of Anchorage (2 visitors, 1 tourism industry, and one unknown location and industry). One case previously reported as a resident of Anchorage has been corrected to a nonresident visitor case. Several preliminary studies found that people with type O blood have a lower risk of getting the coronavirus, or are less likely to develop a less severe infection if they do get it. Coronavirus in Oregon: State officials report 282 cases and four deaths on Wednesday as infection rates rise – OregonLive

The Oregon Health Authority reported 282 presumed and confirmed coronavirus cases and four deaths on Wednesday. Oregon’s caseload continues to climb with overall COVID-19 infections growing by 7% percent over the past week. The state also reported 22 people died from the virus between July 6 and July 12 – double the number who died during the prior week. The weekly report also showed that after five weeks of increasing hospitalization rates, the average has “plateaued.” Officials attribute this to increased testing and the fact that most Oregonians currently being infected are young people, who are less likely to be hospitalized. 21 COVID-19 cases reported in outbreak at Mt. Bachelor Memory Care in Bend – KTVZ

(Update: Adding video, more details from company) BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Deschutes County Health Services said Wednesday it is investigating a COVID-19 outbreak at Mt. Bachelor Memory Care in Bend that has led to more than 20 confirmed cases of the virus among residents and staff. A resident tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday, and Health Services staff responded quickly to test all residents and staff, begin the contact tracing necessary to contain such an outbreak and to assess the dimensions of the outbreak.
