Yolo County reports COVID-19 cluster at Woodland care facility – KCRA Sacramento

Yolo County health officials said Thursday that they're dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak at a Woodland care facility. Woodland Residential Services -- a facility that provides care for the developmentally disabled -- has 10 confirmed cases, according to a news release from the county. One resident has died, the county said. Six of the cases are among residents at the facility and four are staff members. The county said that everyone at the facility is being tested and that people who have tested positive for COVID-19 will be isolated in a separate building.The county has seen a "dramatic" rise in cases in the past three to four weeks and has more than 1,000 confirmed cases, the news release says. Clark County, Nevada see record number of new COVID-19 cases – Las Vegas Review-Journal

Both Clark County and the state of Nevada set new records for reported COVID-19 cases in a 24-hour period on Thursday with the former announcing 1,315 new cases and the state adding 1,447 cases. The Southern Nevada Health District announced the new total on its coronavirus website as well as five additional deaths. The new figures brought the case total for the county to 26,926 and raised the death toll to 507. The district estimates that 18,447 of those who contracted the virus caused by the new coronavirus. New cases were far above the daily average of just over 783 for the preceding week, while deaths were slightly below the daily average of just under six for the period. Uniform mask-wearing at one hair salon in Missouri may have prevented nearly 140 clients from contracting the novel coronavirus from two hairstylists infected with the virus, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In May, two hairstylists at Great Clips in Springfield, Mo., tested positive for COVID-19 after seeing clients at the salon located at 1864 S. According to a report from a bipartisan committee of experts assembled by the Rockefeller Foundation, the U.S. should invest a whopping $75B to "fix" its "flawed" system of COVID-19 diagnostic testing. Recommendations: Rapid expansion of testing capacity from today's 4.5M tests per week to 30M tests per week by October. Massive scale-up of screening tests to identify asymptomatic carriers. Reduce test processing time from today's 5-14 days to 48 hours (appears to be a logistics issue).
