Arcane, the animated series inspired by League of Legend, has a beautiful new trailer that debuted during Netflix’s Tudum streaming event on Saturday. The latest look at the series also revealed that it will be released on Netflix this November, with additional episodes releasing in subsequent weeks. The trailer debut follows news that the show’s cast includes Hailee Steinfeld (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse) as Vi, Ella Purnell (Army of the Dead) as Jinx, and Kevin Alejandro (Arrow) as Jayce.
Arcane will focus on two key relationships in the League of Legends universe. The first the bond between the sisters, Vi and Jinx — who are both Champions in League of Legends. The sisters shared a difficult childhood, but their paths diverged leading them to very different adult lives. Popping up as key figures in their journey will be several other League characters as well as a face brand new faces.
The series will also dive into one of the most interesting stories in Runeterra: the conflict between the cities of Piltover and Zaun. Piltover and Zaun are technically two cities that are in the same location, with Piltover taking the shiny upper level and Zaun as the seedy underbelly. But after years of Piltover subtly pushing Zaun down, the invention of Hextech technology starts to shift the balance of power, thanks to Zaun’s willingness to use it in whatever ways necessary.
Arcane is a coproduction between Riot Games and Netflix and is being animated by Fortiche Productions, an animation studio that has worked with Riot in the past to create several League of Legends cinematics.
The series’ first act will release on Nov. 6, immediately after the League of Legends 2021 World Championship Finals. The second act will drop on Nov. 13, and the third act will be released on Nov. 20. Each act will include three episodes.
