Alicia Vikander gave a very rare insight into motherhood as she discussed her desire to put her family first and the uncomfortableness of filming intimate scenes in a candid chat with Harper’s Bazaar.

The actress, 33, welcomed her first child with with husband Michael Fassbender last year and although she had been seen with a baby on outings in August, she did not confirm that she had welcomed a child until the following month.

She has since avoided discussing their child publicly – or revealing their name or sex – but in a new interview, the Oscar-winning star opened up about motherhood, stating she always puts her ‘little family’ first.

She said: ‘In my little family, with my husband and my child, we travel together, always. That’s the rule. We do jobs so one of us can always be with the baby.’

The couple, who currently live together in Lisbon, Portugal, are known for being notoriously private and hadn’t previously spoken about whether they would have children together.

Michael and Alicia tied the knot in October 2017 – three years after they began dating, following meeting on set of The Light Between Oceans.

Elsewhere in the chat, Alicia also confessed that she dislikes filming sex scenes, admitting that they are the ‘worst thing ever’.

She said: ‘The only thing that can’t be improvised is an intimate scene – you have to make choreography and stick to it.

‘It’s the worst thing ever to do those scenes. I am very comfortable with my body and I’ve done quite a bit of nudity and sex scenes, but it’s never easy.’

The Ex-Machina star then revealed that she hadn’t always felt safe when doing intimate scenes.

She said: ‘I’ve been in situations that were not fine, where I didn’t feel I was protected.

‘[On one occasion] everyone was busy doing their own thing and, in the middle, you have an actor who sits there naked for a couple of hours. And someone is supposed to arrive with a robe, and they don’t.

‘It comes afterwards – [the knowledge that] that was not right. I should have been looked after.’

Alicia went on to speak about the the perception of showbusiness as glamourous versus the reality, which is much more challenging.

She said: ‘People come and see us at a premiere dressed up and walking these carpets, and that’s fun, of course. But that’s the illusion of what the industry is.

‘[The reality is] interest, and passion, and a will to make something.

‘It’s four months where a bunch of strangers work 15-hour days, six days a week, and don’t sleep.’

She then ditched her bra and slipped into a white crop top and jeans, with her tresses styled in loose waves and wearing a natural palette of makeup.
