Oakland Jeopardy! champ Amy Schneider beats another show record – SFGate

Last Friday, Oakland’s Amy Schneider became the fifth millionaire player in “Jeopardy!” history. One week later, on last night’s show, she crept up another section of the “Jeopardy!” record book.

With 33 straight victories, Schneider officially holds the third-longest all-time “Jeopardy!” winning streak, surpassing fellow phenom (and one of three participants in 2020’s “Jeopardy! The Greatest of All Time” showdown) James Holzhauer.

And she did it with style, racking up a $26,000 lead after the first two rounds after finding and answering all three Daily Double questions. She did lose $20,000 in a Final Jeopardy question but still ended the game with an extra $10,200 to add to her $1,111,800 winnings pile.

Schneider is already the highest-earning female contestant in “Jeopardy!” history and is the first transgender contestant to qualify for the “Tournament of Champions” round. But she still has a ways to go before further cementing herself in the upper echelons of “Jeopardy!” history.

Matt Amodio holds both the show’s second-longest win streak and its third-place spot for highest regular-season winnings. Schneider will need to win five more games to tie Amodio’s 38-game streak, and earn another $405,801 to match his winnings. Holzhauer, meanwhile, remains in second place for all-time winnings, with $2,462,216 earned.

To reach the top of both rankings, Schneider will have to best the impressive top-ranked resume of Ken Jennings, who is currently sharing the show’s hosting duties with Mayim Bialik. Jennings’ win streak lasted 74 games, while his career regular-season earnings reached $2,520,700.

Schneider will have the chance to extend her streak on Monday.
