A COVID-19 vaccine requirement for some indoor public spaces in Boston goes into effect Saturday.Patrons 12 and older will be required to show they have received at least one vaccine dose to enter indoor dining, bars, nightclubs, gyms and entertainment venues. Proof of full vaccination will be required for adults by Feb. 15.There are some exemptions, including performing artists who are not regularly employed by a venue, professional athletes and sports teams.Affected businesses will be required to place a sign at the front entrance and check a customer’s vaccination proof upon entry. Acceptable forms of proof will include a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention vaccination card, a digital image of the card, an image of another official immunization record or a COVID-19 vaccine verification app. Boston officials say the forthcoming “B Together” app will allow individuals to store vaccination records for themselves and for children or family members. It is expected to launch in app stores on Saturday with support for English, Spanish and simplified Chinese. Additional languages will follow. On Monday, Gov. Charlie Baker announced a different digital vaccine card system that people who were vaccinated in Massachusetts may obtain and download to their smartphones. That tool is built on the SMART Health Card standard, which is already in use by several other states.
