Comic-Con@Home yielded quite a few major announcements, and The Dragon Prince renewal was among them.

Fans of the animated Netflix series will get more adventures in Xadia and the Elven realms as they follow Ezran, Callum, Rayla, Zym, and Bait on their journey. After season 3’s success and cliffhanger, viewers wanted more, and it’s happening with a generous push from Netflix.

‘The Dragon Prince’ renewed for season 4 and beyond

Speaking to the virtual audience via Zoom, co-creators Aaron Ehasz and Justin Richmond were joined by The Dragon Prince cast members for the Comic-Con@Home panel.

After performing some skits and answering fan questions, they saved the big question about a renewal for last. Ehasz confirmed that season 4 is happening but then added some bonus tidbits.

Ehasz said: “I think it’s really important to emphasize, um … Yes. We’ve been picked up for season 4. Netflix has picked up the whole saga of The Dragon Prince.”

The best part was that the cast learned the news the same time as the fans, and they were celebrating too. While they were busy freaking out about the surprise, Ehasz thanked fans and the team behind the show for their support.

‘The Dragon Prince’ meant to be 7 seasons

Fortunately, The Dragon Prince’s creators will get to tell the story as they intended. While Ehasz joked they have a lot of work to do for the rest of the story, he and Richmond spoke about a seven-season plan in the past.

During their 2019 appearance at Comic-Con, the pair explained the first three seasons are part of a continuous book, similar to Avatar: The Last Airbender.

After Moon, Sky, and Sun, Earth is supposed to kick off a new part of the saga with seasons 4 and 5. Parts 6 and 7 will conclude the saga, and fans will see some storylines evolve, overlap, and incur time gaps.

Bear in mind that Ehasz was a head writer for the aforementioned ATLA. Both co-creators will write the rest of The Dragon Prince but keep some things under wraps. No release date has been given for season 4.

Fans can plug into the series with books, video game

In addition to learning about more seasons of The Dragon Prince, fans were made privy to plans for an art book, graphic novel, and role-playing video game. According to Richmond, the art book will be released on Aug. 18 and will cover the first three seasons of the show.

However, the graphic novel picks up where season 3 left off. Fans can look forward to Through The Moon arriving on Oct. 6., which may hold everyone over until the next installment of the show.

The team also shared a preview trailer for the role-playing game, The Dragon Prince: Tales of Xadia, which is due to drop in 2021. Fans can sign up to receive email updates about the game, but the books can be pre-ordered.

Whether you’re a newbie or dedicated fan, you can stream all three seasons of The Dragon Prince now, and then follow up with The Legend of Korra in August.
