IT JUST DID SO MUCH HAVOC ON HIS IS BRIAN AND HIS SPINAL COLUMN STANDS CONDITION WORSENED QUICKLY. HE LOST MOBILITY AND WAS UNABLE TO BREATHE. HE WAS RESUSCITATED FIVE TIMES IN A SINGLE NIGHT. THE DOCTOR CAME OUT AFTER HIS FOURTH COAT AND SAID WE SEE HE’S A DNR. WHAT DO YOU WANT US TO DO AND YOU KNOW, I KIND OF LOOKED I SAID, HE’S MY HUSBAND JUST TRY ONE MORE TIME STAN MADE IT BUT HE’S BEEN IN AND OUT OF REHAB FACILITIES EVER. UNABLE TO SEE HIS WIFE AND FAMILY THROUGHOUT THE PANDEMIC THEIR RETIREMENT NEARLY WIPED OUT BY MEDICAL BILLS BECAUSE I WAS STARTING TO FEEL LOST IF IT WASN’T FOR CHRIST. I WOULD REALLY HAD A HARD TIME NOW WITH THE VIRUS FINALLY DORMANT IN HIS BODY. HE’S BACK WITH HIS FAMILY AND HE’S ASKING EVERYONE TO BE GRATEFUL FOR THE TIME THEY HAVE WITH LOVED ONES. Nebraska’s first 2021 West Nile virus death reported in Omaha metro
The Three Rivers Public Health Department covering Dodge, Saunders, and Washington counties reported the state’s first known death this season.
The Three Rivers Health Department confirmed its first death in 2021 from the West Nile virus. The department’s jurisdiction covers Dodge, Saunders, and Washington counties. It’s unknown which county the victim was from. The health department did not release any identifying information. The death marks the first in Nebraska this season. Most people who are exposed to the virus don’t fall ill, but about 20% will develop flu-like symptoms including headache, fever, muscle and joint aches, nausea and fatigue.For those who are over the age of 60 or who have underlying medical conditions, West Nile virus can be more serious and in rare instances become fatal.
