Ohio coronavirus cases continue trend up with highest number in a Sunday report in two months – cleveland.com

CLEVELAND, Ohio — The state on Sunday reported 495 new coronavirus cases, making it the most on a Sunday since 683 on May 23.

The seven-day average over the last week jumped up to 714 with the 495 cases reported on Sunday.

This is the highest it’s been since the seven-day average May 28.

The average dipped in late June and early July to the mid-200s for several days before the average began to trend up.

Yet at the same time more Ohioans are getting vaccinations.

The state reported 444 people hospitalized with COVID-19, which is up from 200 on July 9 and the highest number since June 13 when it was at 409.

The state over the last week has reported 50,868 first shots, up from 36,515 and 35,297 for the seven-day periods through each of the last two Sundays.
