Chelsea Green debuts in ROH for Women’s Championship tournament bracket reveal – Cageside Seats

ROH recently brought back their women’s division, headed by Maria Kanellis-Bennett, with matches to determine participants for a tournament to crown the new champion. Tonight on the Best in the World PPV, ROH released the bracket and a Hot Mess crashed the party.

Chelsea Green has arrived to ROH.

Vita VonStarr received a spot in the tournament with the condition that she stay out of interfering in men’s matches, specifically backing Vincent and his Righteous faction in their feud with Matt Taven and Mike Bennett. VonStarr violated the condition, so she was booted from the tournament. That meant one spot was open.

Enter Chelsea Green. Hot Mess cut a promo about being deemed unworthy for opportunity. She will be doing things different in ROH. Green came to ROH to win the championship. Unfortunately, she is not cleared to compete due to recovery from a broken wrist. Hot Mess will sit ringside and watch every single match to study her competitors. Once Green is back in the ring, she will show why she deserves to hold the title.

To be honest, I’m confused by the medical timeline and whether Green is in the tournament or not. If she does get cleared in one month, she could theoretically compete in her opening match as long as ROH delays it to be one of the last of the round.

Not be overshadowed by Green, the tournament bracket was revealed.

ROH

Angelina Love earned a first round bye due to defeating Quinn McKay. The rest of the first round matchups include:

  • Sumie Sakai vs. Rok-C
  • Mandy Leon vs. Chelsea Green
  • Max The Impaler vs. Holidead
  • Miranda Alize vs. Alex Gracia
  • Mazzerati vs. Nicole Savoy
  • Allysin Kay vs. Willow Nightingale
  • Marti Belle vs. Trish Adora

Also of note, Allie Recks earned her spot, but she had to withdraw due to injury. Quinn McKay has a chance at redemption. If she wins her match next weekend against Mandy Leon, then she will be included. I assume that means McKay would replace Leon. Lenny Leonard was announced as the special guest commentator for the tournament. It will begin July 31 with the final crowning the winner in September at Death Before Dishonor.
