The Witcher season 2 first teaser trailer – Polygon

The second season of Netflix’s live-action adaptation of The Witcher is officially in the can. The streamer released a teaser for season 2 of the hit series during its Geeked event on Friday, emphasizing Ciri’s role as a Witcher in training.

Filming for The Witcher season 2 commenced in February of 2020. Production on the show was suspended due to the pandemic, but resumed last summer.

Henry Cavill will reprise his role as Geralt of Rivia, as will Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, Freya Allan as Ciri, and Joey Batey as Jaskier. New to the cast are Yasen Atour (Ben-Hur, Young Wallander) as the witcher Coen, Agnes Bjorn as the bruxa Vereena, Paul Bullion (Peaky Blinders, Dracula Untold) as the witcher Lambert, Thue Ersted Rasmussen (Fast and Furious 9) as the witcher Eskel, Aisha Fabienne Ross (The Danish Girl) as Lydia, Kristofer Hivju (Game of Thrones’ Tormund Giantsbane) as Nivellen, and Mecia Simson as Francesca.

Netflix has more stories of The Witcher coming as well, as the streaming company announced that an animated movie, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, is in development with showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich and writer Beau DeMayo overseeing the spinoff. Nightmare of the Wolf is coming to Netflix sometime in 2021. A six-part, live-action prequel series called The Witcher: Blood Origin is also in development, but does not have a release date.

The Witcher season 2 currently does not have a premiere date.
