Matthew Perry and Molly Hurwitz break off engagement – Page Six

Maybe they just want to be “Friends.”

Matthew Perry suddenly split with his fiancée Molly Hurwitz, a report said Tuesday night.

The star of recently recycled ’90s sitcom “Friends” told PEOPLE that the relationship had sadly come to an end.

“Sometimes things just don’t work out and this is one of them,” Perry said, in a statement. “I wish Molly the best.”

Perry, 51, and Hurwitz got engaged in November 2020. At the time, Perry called the 29-year-old literary manager the “greatest woman on the face of the planet.”

The former couple’s split comes as Perry has faced an onslaught of online scrutiny about his health following his appearance on the “Friends” reunion that aired on HBO Max.

Fans were left worried after Perry slurred his speech during the special as he sat alongside former co-stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer and Matt LeBlanc.

According to a report, Perry’s speech was impaired due to recent dental work.

“Matthew turned up to the reunion [in April] and members of his team said that he had an emergency tooth procedure that day,” a source told the Sun.

“Obviously no one wants to film after a procedure, but it happened.”

The source insisted that Perry is sober and there was no need for fans to worry.
