Press release from the Humboldt County Joint Information Center:
Fifteen additional cases of COVID-19 were reported in Humboldt County today, bringing the total number of county residents who have tested positive to 3,814.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated its guidance Tuesday for fully vaccinated people to state they no longer need to wear a mask outdoors, except in certain crowded settings and venues. These recommendations are from the federal government. The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) stated its initial support for the guidance and that it would have more information in the days to come.

Many appointments for the Pfizer vaccine are available this week, and clinics are planned at Fortuna High School and Arcata Community Center. All county residents age 16 and older can schedule a first or second dose appointment. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and provide proof of age.
See the schedule of Pfizer clinics below:
- Arcata Community Center – Wednesday, April 28; Thursday, April 29; Friday, April 30; Saturday, May 1; Sunday, May 2 (walk-in hours from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.)
- Fortuna High School – Saturday, May 1.
For appointment times and to register, go to MyTurn.ca.gov.
On Tuesday, the CDPH announced Humboldt County will remain in the “Orange” or Moderate tier with an adjusted case rate of 5.9 per 100,000 residents and a positivity rate of 3.1%. Health officials say it is unlikely the county will change tiers in either direction in the near future.
