Iowa reports 499 new positive COVID-19 tests Sunday

The Iowa Department of Public Health on Sunday reported 499 new positive COVID-19 cases and two additional deaths. At 10 a.m., the health department reported 377,896 total positive tests, 331,453 total recoveries and 5,718 total deaths since the start of the pandemic. A day earlier, the health department reported 377,397 total positive tests and 5,716 total deaths.State data shows 1,439,027 vaccine doses have been administered in Iowa, with 566,498 individuals completing the vaccination series.The state’s positivity rates are up slightly again. The 14-day average is at 4.4% and the 7-day average is at 4.7%. There have been 4,410,162 tests administered in Iowa.COVID-19 hospitalizations have dipped back under 200 again. The number of Iowans hospitalized with the virus dropped from 201 to 192 in the past 24 hours. There are 42 patients in ICU and nine patients on ventilators.The number of long-term care facilities reporting virus outbreaks in the state remains at two. Good Samaritan Society in Ottumwa and Urbandale Health Care Center each report outbreaks. The state reports 12 positive cases within those facilities.
