The Oklahoma City-County Health Department announced that they have partnered with Mercy Health System to open more appointment slots for people 65 and older to get the COVID-19 vaccine.Health leaders said the pods are for Monday, Feb. 8 through Wednesday, Feb. 10. Parking will be available in the lot off West Memorial Road, in front of the institute on the north side of the building, and free valet and shuttle service will be available to accommodate patients.Because parking is limited, officials have asked people to not arrive more than 10 minutes before their scheduled appointment.Oklahoma City-County Health Department officials said if weather causes the clinic to be canceled or delayed, people can expect a call from Mercy at least two hours before the event starts. Leaders with Mercy and the local health department are watching the weather and will keep people’s safety in mind as they continue their vaccination efforts.According to a news release, Mercy has temporarily installed large tents to help people stay protected from the weather. The hospital also plans to ask people to stay in their vehicles if the line outside becomes too long.
