Prisma Health releases new information about added Upstate vaccination site, walk-in vaccinations
Prisma Health on Thursday released information about a new Upstate COVID-19 vaccination site and updated information about scheduling a vaccination appointment and walk-in availability.WYFF News 4 reached out to Prisma Health officials when some viewers called and said they were being turned away at some vaccination locations.Prisma Health responded with the following information.”Prisma Health remains committed to ensuring that we vaccinate as many eligible people as we can based on the supplies we are allocated. While many Prisma Health sites take walk-ins on a limited basis, the number of walk-in slots available will likely change every day based on the vaccine availability at that site. Community members are urged to check online at www.PrismaHealth.org/Vaccine or, if they don’t have internet access, to call us at 833-2PRISMA, which is 833-277-4762.”Prisma Health will calculate its vaccine availability for walk-ins several times during the day based on those scheduled and arrived appointments. The Prisma website will update in real-time, with those sites still open for walk-ins listed in green. Sites that no longer have walk-in availability for that day are marked in red.”Prisma Health’s mass-vaccination site in Greenville, located at the former Kmart near Greenville Memorial Hospital, is not taking first-dose walk-ins on Friday. It will take already-scheduled Friday appointments, as well as second-dose walk-ins. Due to the lack of vaccine supply, it will be closed Saturday and have a delayed start on Monday, when it will open at noon. The site, based at The Ridge at Laurens, located at 301 Exchange Road, will run Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.- 4 p.m. The large-event space, part of the Laurens Parks and Recreation Department, is expected to vaccinate 1,240 people per week.
