Lancaster County officials and leaders with Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health are expected to update the public today on the plan to distribute the COVID-19 vaccine to residents.Lancaster County commissioners say they are getting a lot of questions, especially about the vaccine rollout.The latest coronavirus case numbers from Pennsylvania show Lancaster County has had 36,657 positive cases since the start of the pandemic. COVID-19 cases are trending down. When it comes to vaccinations, the Lancaster County dashboard indicates that 28,091 doses, including first and second doses, have been administered. The county has received 30,600 doses to administer.Lancaster County Commissioner Josh Parsons believes the county and its health systems are doing a good job, but he is frustrated with the state’s response. Parsons says the county is ready to do a mass vaccination, but they need the state to give them enough vaccines to make it happen.“We want to articulate to them, and have been, that we get that there has to be a rational and fair way to distribute the vaccine and continue to do that and represent our population here,” Parsons said.A meeting with county and health officials is scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday at the Public Safety Training Center.
