Chrissy Teigen can do no right these days.
The former Sports Illustrated model is taking heat on social media once again — this time for supporting her husband, John Legend, who was invited to perform at President Joe Biden’s inauguration ceremony.
The stacked lineup — which includes Garth Brooks, Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga and Bruce Springsteen, among many others — taped their acts on Tuesday for television audiences on Wednesday.
But despite the star-powered presidential transition, not everyone was stoked on the celebrity caravan into DC — with the city still reeling from the riot at the Capitol on Jan. 6.
On Tuesday, Teigen, a vocal Biden supporter during the election, tweeted about her family’s excitement for their trip to the White House: “Happy packing for inauguration,” the 35-year-old wrote, along with a photo of her son, Miles, sporting an inconvenient fat lip ahead of the event.
But a few followers found their happiness offensive.
“Hey Chrissy DC residents aren’t very ‘happy’ right now and can’t even ‘happy pack’ their cars to drive to the grocery store because of the military state the city is in but yeah LOL come on down especially in a pandemic. How happy!!!” tweeted @staceybrnan.
When another fan pointed out that Teigen and her family had no part in the storming of the Capitol, @staceybrnan doubled down by calling the “Cravings” cookbook author “tone deaf” for traveling to DC — “when John is doing a gig no one will even be able to see.”
“It’s all privilege and really minimizes what DC is going thru,” she said.
Viewers will be able to watch the “Ordinary People” singer’s show — tonight, on multiple television networks as well as social media platforms. But @staceybrnan will have none of it.
“Why couldn’t he do a virtual performance and also why does his whole family have to go when literally no one can move about the city?” she asked. “She should turn on the TV,” she concluded, referring to Teigen and her family.
Then Teigen stepped in again. “For f – – ks sake why are you guys always always mad at me,” she lamented. “All I wanna do is make you happy or at least leave you with a neutral feeling of indifference.”
Many fans, DC residents included, came to Teigen’s defense against DC’s privilege watchdog.
“Please don’t speak on behalf of DC residents. Thanksssss,” said @ZeroACento.
“Some people just choose to be absolutely mean for no reason,” @aliberk65 replied in the thread. “I pity them. I pity those who have to be around them. So much hate in their heart.”
“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and a historic moment. She has the ability to have her children witness the first ever biracial woman — someone who looks like them! — become the VP! They will remember it always. I live in DC and it sucks. [Don’t] misplace your anger on her,” added @kerirulz.
Teigen doesn’t appear to be letting the criticism get to her — and she’s just as thrilled to see Biden sworn in as the 81 million other Americans who voted for him.
And, just like us, she’s also super hyped for J.Lo.
In a series of videos she shared while watching events unfold outside of her DC hotel window Wednesday morning, she exclaimed, “Breaking news, breaking news: It’s J.Lo and A.Rod!”
