Seminole County officials provide update on COVID-19 vaccine distribution – WESH 2 Orlando

JASON: VACCINATION EFFORTS BEGAN LAST WEEK FOR RESIDENTS IN SEMINOLE COUNTY WITH THE FIRST 8000 OR SO DOSES OF THE MODERNA BEING DELIVERED. THERE WAS A PRESS CONFERENCE EARLIER TODAY THAT THEY ARE HOPEFUL THEY WILL BE ABLE TO GET MORE AND MORE PEOPLE VACCINATED. >> WE ARE HOPEFUL THAT MORE VACCINE WILL COME AND WE CERTAINLY WANT TO GET VACCINE OUT TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE IN THOSE PRIORITY GROUPS. AND SO WE LEARNED THAT WE HAVE ALREADY PUT THE CALL OUT, THE VACCINE WILL BE ADMINISTERED YEAR IN SEMINOLE COUNTY WITHIN A WEEK AND A HALF TO TWO WEEKS. 8100 INITIAL DOSES, AND WE WANT VACCINE ON THE WAY JUST AS SOON AS POSSIBLE TO CONTINUE OUR EFFORTS. JASON: THIS WEEK, MORE OF THIS CORONAVIRUS VACCINES WILL BE DELIVERED ALL ACROSS CENTRAL FLORIDA. MICHELLE: THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE HAVE ALREADY BEEN GIVEN THEIR FIRST DOSES. REPORTER: THE LATEST VACCINE REPORT BY THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SHOWS THAT ALMOST 120,000 PEOPLE IN FLORIDA HAVE ALREADY GOTTEN THEIR FIRST COVID-19 VACCINE. ALMOST 12,000 OF THOSE OUT OF ORANGE COUNTY, ROUGHLY 3000 INVOLUTION SEMINOLE, ABOUT 2000 IN POLK AND MORE THAN 1000 IN LAKE AND OSCEOLA. IT WILL SOON LARGELY INCLUDE THE SENIOR POPULATION. THE ORDER PASSED LAST WEEK CLEARING THOSE 65 AND OLDER AS NEXT PRIORITY GROUPS. NOW, COUNTY LEADERS ARE WORKING ON GETTING THAT CATEGORY VACCINATED. SEMINOLE COUNTY IS THE FIRST HOSTING INDEX INDUSTRIES AN EVENT FOR THE 65 AND OLDER. APPOINTMENT ARE REQUIRED IN ALL APPOINTMENT SLOTS ARE BOOKED. >> WE WERE CONCERNED ABOUT ALL THE CONSPIRACY THEORIES. WE REALLY WANT TO BE ABLE TO PROVIDE THIS SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY. Seminole County Chairman Lee Constantine, Seminole County Emergency Chairman Alan Harris and Florida Department of Health in Seminole Health Officer Donna Walsh addressed the public at 11 a.m. inside the Seminole County Vaccine Point of Dispensing Site for those who are age 65 and older, located to the right of the food court at the Oviedo Mall.View more about the update from officials, HERE.Over the next couple of days, more health care workers, nursing home residents and Florida residents over 65 in Central Florida will receive their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.Gov.
