Elf cast reunites to fundraise for Democrats in Georgia Senate runoffs | TheHill – The Hill

The cast of the 2003 Christmas film “Elf” will reunite for a fundraiser benefiting Democratic candidates Jon Ossoff and the Rev. Raphael Warnock in the two Georgia runoff elections.

The fundraiser will be livestreamed on Sunday and feature cast members like Will Ferrell, Zooey Deschanel, Bob Newhart doing a table read of the film script, according to an announcement from the digital fundraising platform ActBlue.

“Pod Save America” host Jon Favreau will also take part in the reading, with comedian and writer Ashley Nicole Black hosting the fundraiser.

The event aims to raise money for the Georgia Democratic Party to support Ossoff and Warnock as they try to unseat Sens. Democrats need to win both races to regain control of the Senate.

Deschanel posted a statement to Twitter announcing her participation in the fundraiser, encouraging followers to watch the livestream at 4 p.m. ET.

“If I were any more excited to be in the #ElfForGeorgia reunion I might explode into a burst of snowflakes,” the star of “New Girl” said. “Join me, Will Ferrell, and many other amazing people from the original cast along with some special guests for our live reading!”

Actor Ed Helms, a Georgia native and former cast member of “The Office,” also posted that he’ll be participating in the virtual event.

“When they asked me to be a part of #ElfForGeorgia I couldn’t believe it! It’s one of the best holiday movies ever and proceeds go to benefit Dems in my home state,” said Helms.
