The Ellen DeGeneres Show: Ashton Kutcher Called Ellen DeGeneres Out for Her Rich People Problems – Showbiz Cheat Sheet

Ellen DeGeneres has had a number of special guests on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and Ashton Kutcher has visited the set a number of times. In 2018, Kutcher talked to DeGeneres about what it’s like living near each other in the same neighborhood. And when DeGeneres told a story of hers, Kutcher chalked it up to “rich people problems.” Here’s what happened.

Ashton Kutcher visited ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ in 2018

It’s clear Kutcher is a big fan of DeGeneres. When DeGeneres was getting roasted by fans for the negative working environment her employees described in 2020, Kutcher came to her defense on Twitter. And whenever he visited The Ellen DeGeneres Show, he mentioned how close they were in proximity to one another in real life.

“Ashton and Mila and Portia and I are neighbors,” DeGeneres told the audience when Kutcher arrived in 2018. “And we see each other often.”

DeGeneres then explained how “cute” Kutcher and his wife, Mila Kunis, are in the neighborhood. “They walk in the morning with their pajamas on, and their dogs, and their kids,” DeGeneres continued.

Kutcher then told a funny story of how DeGeneres didn’t think his 2-year-old son walks. He explained he carries his son when walking down to the beach, and this led DeGeneres to believe the child can’t walk at all. “Now, once we get to purview of your house, I’m like, ‘Go, go,’” Kutcher joked about his son. “‘Run, little sucker!’”

While discussing Kutcher’s son walking or not walking, the two friends continued to joke. It’s clear Kutcher and DeGeneres live right on the beach, as the beginning of their segment together has the duo talking about DeGeneres flying a plane with a banner right over her house. And Kutcher noted he was offended he wasn’t invited to watch the spectacle.

Later on, Kutcher joked that he and Kunis call DeGeneres “Gladys.” And DeGeneres attempted to explain to the audience.

“Mila called me Gladys because … there was a guy on a jet ski going way too fast too close to the shore, and there are dolphins out there …,” DeGeneres started while Kutcher laughed in the background.

“Oh, these are rich people problems!” he exclaimed midway through DeGeneres’ story. This caused DeGeneres to laugh as well.

“No, it’s not!” she added. “You can be on any beach and see jet skis there. But anyway, Mila called me ….” DeGeneres then stopped the story there and continued on with the segment.

Kutcher and DeGeneres appear to have a wonderful friendship

Both Kutcher and DeGeneres have been called out for possible unsavory behavior in the past. But it seems their friendship remains strong. When DeGeneres was called out by her past employees for supporting a toxic workplace environment, Kutcher assured fans he never experienced what others claimed.

“I haven’t spoken with @TheEllenShow and can only speak from my own experience. She & her team have only treated me & my team w/ respect & kindness,” he explained via Twitter. “She never pandered to celebrity which I always saw as a refreshing honesty. When things aren’t right she handles it and fixes.”

Kutcher also teamed up with Ripple, a currency exchange system, to give DeGeneres $4 million for her wildlife relief fund. And his reasoning was that DeGeneres is always giving back to others and is totally selfless.

We’re sure we’ll see Kutcher on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in the future even if it means he’ll tease DeGeneres for her “rich people problems” once again.
