WHEN HE CAME OF THE VENTILATOR, HE WAS SO WEAK HE COULD NOT LIFT HIS FINGERS OFF THE BED. IT HAS BEEN A VERY — WE WERE NOT SURE WHERE RECOVERY WAS GOING TO GO AT THAT TIME. MARCUS: HAROLD GORTER WAS DIAGNOSED WITH COVID 19 IN LATE HE SPENT A MONTH AT MERCY ONE AUGUST. DES MOINES. HE’S BEEN AT THE BRIDGES AT ANKENY, A SKILLED NURSING FACILITY, SINCE OCTOBER 2 WHERE HE HAD TO RELEARN HOW TO WALK, TALK, AND EAT. >> I AM FEELING PRETTY GOOD. I JUST APPRECIATE WHAT EVERYONE HERE HAS DONE FOR ME. MARCUS: IT WAS AN EMOTIONAL REUNION FOR GORTER AND HIS FAMILY. IDPH reports 37 additions deaths related to COVID-19

The Iowa Department of Public Health releases the latest coronavirus data in real time. KCCI provides a daily snapshot of the past 24 hours of statistics.As of 10 a.m. Friday, the IDPH website reports 223,544 confirmed cases statewide since Iowa’s outbreak began.The IDPH confirmed 1,266 additional COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours. The IDPH reported 37 additional COVID-19 deaths for a statewide death toll of 2,349. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 127,353 Iowans have recovered from COVID-19. Of Iowa’s 99 counties, 85 report 14-day positivity rates above 15%. Two Iowa counties, Lucas and Poweshiek counites, report a 14-day positivity rate below 10%.According to the state’s website, a total of 1,197,773 Iowans received COVID-19 tests. IDPH reports 1,226 hospitalizations, of which 256 Iowans are in intensive care units. Iowa hospitals admitted 183 in the last 24 hours, compared to 193 admitted the day before. Of those in the hospital, 141 patients are on ventilators. There are currently 3,260 inpatient beds available and 369 ICU beds available. As of this morning, there are 840 ventilators available. Iowa’s average reported positivity rate is 18.7% over the last 14 days. Of the state’s confirmed cases, 116,305 Iowans recovered.The IDPH reports 151 COVID-19 outbreaks among long-term care facilities in the state, accounting for 4,628 of Iowa’s total positive cases. COVID-19 outbreaks at long-term care facilities account for 1,055 of the state’s total deaths.
