2 Chainz & Lil Wayne Give a Shout-Out to HBCUs With Money Maker at the 2020 BET Hip Hop Awards – Billboard

The message was a fitting intro for “Money Maker,” whose video featured college marching bands and ended with a dedication to historically black colleges and universities. 2 Chainz kept the message going as his performance began. Sitting on an elevated stand and wearing a red Clark Atlanta University, he said, “One, thank God. Two, shoutout to all the HBCUs out there. Three, lock up the officers that killed Breonna Taylor. And four, make sure you go vote.”

When Weezy made his entrance, he — like 2 Chainz — was wearing an HBCU sweatshirt, but yellow. Together, the two rappers delivered an energetic performance that included marching band members as well as ballet dancers.

2 Chainz, who faced off against Rick Ross on “Verzuz” in early August, released the song the same month, with the video coming in September. It’s the first single off his upcoming album, So Help Me God.

The 15th BET Hip Hop Awards were hosted by comedy trio The 85 South Show’s Karlous Miller, DC Young Fly and Chico Bean.
