New data brings the total number of confirmed cases to 150,915 and confirmed deaths to 3,346

The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) announced Friday 860 new confirmed cases and 54 new probable cases of COVID-19, 21 additional confirmed deaths and 1 new probable deaths.This brings the total number of confirmed cases to 150,915, probable cases to 5,706, confirmed deaths to 3,346, and 205 probable deaths.Confirmed and probable cases: please click here.Confirmed and probable deaths: please click here.On Friday DHEC also provided new guidelines for outdoor and indoor visitation at nursing homes and community residential care facilities, commonly referred to as assisted living facilities. These guidelines are also recommended for intermediate care facilities for individuals with intellectual disabilities.The guidelines for both indoor and outdoor visitation are based on the most recent CMS guidance for reopening nursing homes, as well as CDC guidance for COVID-19 in nursing homes. The visitation status of all nursing homes and community residential care facilities in the state will begin to be provided in a new weekly report which will be available online for the first time on Tuesday, Oct. 13.Testing in South CarolinaAs of Friday, a total of 1,611,221 tests have been conducted in the state. DHEC’s Public Health Laboratory is operating extended hours and is testing specimens seven days a week, and the Public Health Laboratory’s current timeframe for providing results to health care providers is 24-48 hours.
