The Iowa Department of Public Health reported 901 new coronavirus cases and six additional deaths on Saturday.As of 10 a.m. Saturday, IDPH reported a total of 79,128 positive cases, 57,227 recoveries and 1,264 deaths since the pandemic began. As of 10 a.m. Friday, IDPH had reported 78,227 total cases and 1,258 total deaths.IDPH reported 732,186 Iowans have been tested for COVID-19. The state received 6,247 lab results in the previous day, with 692 positive cases. IDPH receives lab results from previous days that add to the overall reported total. One of four Iowans have been tested for coronavirus, while 1 of 40 have tested positive. The state reports a positivity rate of 8.5% over the last 14 days.The state reports nine Iowa counties with a positivity rate greater than 15% over the last 14 days, up from eight the previous day. That means public schools in Sioux, Lyon, Crawford, Osceola, Plymouth, Winnebago, Henry, Sac, and Carroll counties can apply for a waiver to offer 100% virtual learning. Sioux, Lyon, Crawford and Osceola counties report a rate greater than 20%, with Sioux County reporting a 29.5% positivity rate.IDPH data shows 282 patients currently hospitalized with COVID-19, up from 281 the previous day. There are 81 patients in intensive care, down from 91 the previous day. There are 40 patients on ventilators, up from 39 the previous day. There were 34 patients admitted in the last 24 hours, down from 55 the previous day. IDPH reported approximately 2,890 hospital beds available in the state, with 411 ICU beds and 781 ventilators available.There are 39 long-term care facilities reporting COVID-19 outbreaks in Iowa, unchanged from the previous day.
