The MCU Needs More Avengers Team-Up Movies – Showbiz Cheat Sheet

As cohesive as The Avengers seemed in the pre and post-Civil War time of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it was clear they only worked together when they had to. While everyone knows some relationships within The Avengers were closer than others, they were truly all at their best working as a team.

Even though Avengers: Endgame put an end to The Avengers as everyone knew them, fans are hoping they continue to team up in some way for future movies. Whether this is really going to happen is still unknown, if the comic books giving hints they will.

On social media, fans are expressing their wish to see more Avengers working together because they want to rather than through happenstance.

As Civil War proved, the closest unions can sometimes wither away when politics get in the way. Everyone knows this is closer to real life than anyone cares to admit. Unfortunately, Civil War probably looked a little prescient nowadays as more people once close are divided due to particular ideologies about how the world is supposed to work.

If some have dismissed the MCU franchise for being too pedestrian, the movies really did pick up on important social issues before they occurred in reality. At least The Avengers all evolved into working together toward a common cause.

One could say they gave a warning tale about division, but also one of inevitably working together to solve a bigger issue. They had it right that when something beyond human scope occurs, most people do work together to overcome.

Over on Reddit, the issue of whether The Avengers will ever work together again as a unit broached an interesting point. Can old and new Avengers work as a unit again to overcome future villains to earth?

If going by the comic books, The Avengers will reassemble

Said the thread starter on Reddit above: “I really hope the next Avengers movie builds a solid team again, instead of them simply coming together by circumstances like Avengers 1, Infinity War and Endgame (as much as I loved those movies).”

Those who know their Marvel Comics will know a new Avengers team was definitely assembled, albeit maybe different from how the movies will depict it. The “New Avengers” were mostly women and consisted of Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, Moon Knight, and Kate Bishop (as the new Hawkeye).

Many MCU analysts think this is the direction the films will go, particularly with the upcoming Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk shows debuting on Disney+ eventually. Or, it could end up being a combination of that and bringing Spider-Man, Captain Marvel, and the other old guard into the mix.

The pattern of solo and team-up movies in the MCU

Another Reddit user made a good point: “The reason the Avengers went their separate ways at the end of Avengers 1 is because they come together when needed. They just don’t hang out at an HQ waiting for the alarm to go off. During that time they’re doing their own thing. This is why we don’t have 22 Avengers movies.”

Even the MCU understands the idea of mixing things up so each and every movie never ends up being a continual Avengers adventure. Maybe this will change if someone like Kevin Feige reads fan response in wanting more team efforts.

Most likely, the usual formula will take precedence in sticking with solo efforts in-between the group movies. From all indications, there may be a longer wait anyway until a new Avengers comes around and takes on a major villain like Galactus or Doctor Doom.

After the epic emotion of Endgame, everyone could use the break anyway. In the meantime, the Disney+ shows may end up anchoring to help old Avengers regroup for a few things, no matter if just hanging out in a lab or for a home barbecue.
