VACCINATING MORE THAN 30,000 STUDENTS HERE AT IOWA STATE IS A BIG JOB, BUT IT EVEN BIGGER PROBLEM IS HAVING ENOUGH VACCINE. IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY HAS TURNED THE VACCINATION PROCESS WITH THE PFIZER AND MODERNA DRUGS INTO A FINELY TUNED MACHINE. SO WHEN THE UNIVERSITY DECIDED TO HOLD A MASS VACCINATION CLINIC FOR ALL OF ITS STUDENTS. ON APRIL 20TH AT THE STATE GYM USING THE NEW JOHNSON & JOHNSO DRUG STUDENTS WERE EXCITED YES TO DECREASE THE CHANCES OF GETTING IT AND MAKING IT SAFER FOR EVERYONE FOR CAMPUS SO YOU CAN RETURN BACK TO A NORMAL LIFE RATHER THAN HUNDREDS. WE MAY DO THOUSANDS A WEEK. THAT WAS THE PLAN ISU EMERGENCY MANAGER STEPHEN SIMPSONHAD WHEN HE HEARD ABOUT THE NEW SHIPMENTS OF THE JOHNSON AND JOHNSON VACCINE, BUT THEN CAME WORD THAT PRODUCTION PROBLEMS WOULD SEVERELY LIMIT DISTRIBUTION TO THE COUNTRY. SO NOW THE PLAN FOR GIVING SHOTS EIGHT HOURS A DAY. THREE WEEKS MAY HAVE TO BE SCALED BACK SIMPSON IS NOT PHASED AND SAYS, IT’S JUST ANOTHER BUMP IN THE COVID-19 ROAD. WE STAY FLEXIBLE. THAT’S OUR JOB EMERGENCY MANAGERS AND THIS INSTITUTION HAS STATE. FLEXIBLE AND INNOVATIVE THROUGHOUT THIS PROCESS NO MATTER HOW MUCH VACCINE IOWA STATE GETS IT SAYS IT WILL CONTINUE TO INNATE STUDENTS IN SMALLER NUMBERS
