SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Department of Health reported 460 more confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state Saturday, along with 10 more deaths and 27,583 more vaccines administered.
That brings Utah to 384,173 total cases, 2,101 deaths and 1,289,691 vaccines administered since the pandemic began. Of those vaccines administered, 470,905 Utahns are considered “fully” vaccinated — meaning they’ve received two doses of a Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, or one dose of a Johnson & Johnson shot.
Over the past week, the state is averaging 419 more cases per day and a positive test rate of 3.7%. There are currently 137 Utahns reported hospitalized due to COVID-19, including 56 in intensive care.
Saturday’s numbers come as 14,289 more tests were conducted in Utah. Six of the 10 deaths reported Saturday occurred before March 1, according to the health department. The 10 deaths include:
- A Beaver County man between ages 45 and 64 who was hospitalized when he died
- A Davis County man between ages 45 and 64 who was hospitalized
- A Salt Lake County man between ages 45 and 64 who was hospitalized
- A Davis County woman over age 85 who was the resident of a long-term care facility
- A Salt Lake County man over age 85 who was the resident of a long-term care facility
- A Salt Lake County woman over age 85 who was the resident of a long-term care facility
- A Utah County woman over age 85 who was not hospitalized when she died
- A Utah County woman over age 85 who was the resident of a long-term care facility
- A Washington County man between ages 65 and 84 who was not hospitalized when he died
- A Weber County woman between ages 45 and 64 who was hospitalized
The health department’s coronavirus website says there are currently five long-term care facilities in Utah with active outbreaks among residents.
As of Wednesday, all Utahns age 16 and older are eligible to schedule an appointment to be vaccinated against COVID-19. More information is available at coronavirus.utah.gov/vaccine-distribution.
