Germany orders 40000 vaccine doses as precaution against monkeypox spread – Reuters.com

May 24 (Reuters) - Germany has ordered 40,000 doses of a Bavarian Nordic (BAVA.CO) vaccine to be ready to vaccinate contacts of those infected with monkeypox if an outbreak in Germany becomes more severe, but officials are banking on other precautionary measures for now. Speaking at a press conference, German Health Minister Karl Lauterbach said on Tuesday that measures such as an isolation period of at least 21 days recommended for infected people would suffice for now to contain the outbreak. "If infections spread further we will want to be prepared for possible ring vaccinations that are not yet recommended at this point but might become necessary," said Lauterbach, referring to the strategy of vaccinating contacts of an infected person. This Is Us Finale Recap: Season 6, Episode 18 — Rebeccas Funeral – TVLine

So, how did the Pearsons’ story end? Silly! If you’ve been watching This Is Us for the past six seasons, you already know the answer: The Pearsons’ story will never end! After all, as Kevin told us in Season 1, “I think that’s maybe the point of the whole thing. There’s no dying. There’s no you, or me, or them… it’s just us. And this sloppy, wild, colorful, magical thing that has no beginning, no end, that’s right here? I think it’s us.” The NBC drama’s series finale serves as a quiet epilogue to its gorgeous penultimate episode, “The Train,” which witnessed the death of Pearson matriarch Rebecca. Together, the two installments serve as a very fitting send-off for a show that stayed true to itself throughout its six-season run. And without further ado, let’s review what hap...

1 in 5 Adult Covid Survivors in the U.S. May Develop Long Covid, Says CDC – The New York Times

People in both groups who had a history of one of the 26 health conditions in the previous year were excluded from the study — an attempt by the researchers to consider medical issues that patients developed only after they had Covid. The study, which involved patients seen at health facilities that use a record system managed by Cerner Corp., a large medical data company, said the Covid patients included people admitted to hospitals, seen in emergency departments or diagnosed in an outpatient setting. The researchers did not indicate how many patients were in each group, one of several limitations of the study’s findings. Between 30 days and 365 days after their coronavirus diagnosis, 38 percent of the patients experienced one or more new health problems, compared to 16 percent of the no...

‘FBI’ Season Finale Pulled by CBS After Texas School Shooting – Hollywood Reporter

CBS has pulled the FBI season finale following the Texas school shooting that left at least 18 children and three adults dead. The Dick Wolf-produced show’s season four finale was scheduled to air Tuesday, the same day that Texas Gov. Greg Abbott confirmed that a gunman opened fire at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, about 85 miles west of San Antonio. FBI’s finale was set to include a storyline involving a student’s possible involvement in a deadly robbery. A rerun will air in its place, and it is unclear whether the episode will be seen in the future. CBS will still air the season finales of FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International on Tuesday. FBI, which launched in September 2018, was created by Wolf and Craig Turk. It stars Missy Peregrym, Zeeko Zaki, Jer...

People Who Accidentally Woke Up Mid-Surgery Are Sharing What Happened, And I Truly Have No Words – BuzzFeed

23. "I was put under for surgery to get my wisdom teeth taken out. At some point during the procedure, I woke up feeling all numb and extremely tired; I could barely move a finger. I was a bit weirded out when I saw three people with blood-covered hands poking around inside my mouth with strange tools." "I didn't feel any pain, though, since my mouth was probably shot up full of Novocain. I kind of wanted to not be in that situation, so I mustered all of my strength and twitched my finger a bit. Either the doctor or one of the nurses noticed, and a nurse went over to the IV drip and fiddled with it a bit. I closed my eyes again and fell back asleep.  Next thing I know, I wake up to find my mouth full of gauze, I'm still really tired,...

Amber Heards attorneys rest case as civil trial continues – CBS News

Editor's note: Some testimony contains graphic language and descriptions of sexual and physical assault. The civil trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard continued Tuesday as Heard's legal team rested its case. The trial in Depp's $50 million lawsuit and Heard's $100 million counterclaim is in its sixth week. Judge Penney Azcarate rejected a motion from Depp's attorneys to toss out a $100 million counterclaim she filed against Depp. The counterclaim alleges Depp's then-lawyer, Adam Waldman, defamed Heard when he called her abuse allegations a hoax. Azcarate said the bar for tossing out a claim before it goes to the jury is exceedingly high, and said there is enough evidence to allow it to go forward. She had already ruled Depp could be held responsible for statements made by his lawyer...

Warner Bros. Considered Replacing Amber Heard in ‘Aquaman 2’ – Variety

The president of DC Films testified Tuesday that the studio considered replacing Amber Heard for “Aquaman 2” out of concern that she lacked chemistry with star Jason Momoa. Heard was ultimately cast in the sequel, but her lawyers have argued that she nearly lost the job and could not renegotiate for more money due to the backlash over her domestic abuse allegations against Johnny Depp. Heard is seeking $100 million in a defamation counterclaim against Depp. Walter Hamada, the head of Warner Bros.’ DC unit, was the first witness called by Depp’s side as they begin their rebuttal of Heard’s counterclaim in court in Fairfax, Va. Appearing by video deposition, Hamada testified that the abuse allegations played no role in casting decisions in “Aquaman 2.” However, he said th...
