Time for a fourth Covid vaccine dose? Heres why medical professionals are skeptical – CNBC

There hasn't been enough research on how much protection a fourth dose can offer, medical professionals told CNBC. Justin Sullivan | Getty Images Countries are beginning to offer a fourth dose of the Covid-19 vaccine to vulnerable groups, but medical professionals are undecided on whether it would benefit the wider population. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has so far authorized a fourth shot only for those aged 50 and above, as well as those who are immunocompromised. And the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention was skeptical of the need for a fourth dose for healthy adults in the absence of a clearer public health strategy. Those decisions came as a study from Israel found that although a fourth dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine offers ...

Bucatini all’Amatriciana Recipe

A Classic Roman Dish - Bucatini all'Amatriciana Like many of you, Meg and I watched the Stanley Tucci special on CNN called Searching for Italy. In the Rome episode, he has lunch at Armando Al Pantheon to enjoy their famous rigatoni all'amatriciana, one of Rome's famous pastas. I made it a little different and call it bucatini all'Amatriciana. Of course I had to run out and buy the ingredients so we could make it at home. Not a lot of ingredients and very simple to prepare and absolutely delicious. Let's look at some of the ingredients. Bucatini Bucatini is a pasta that looks a lot like spaghetti but it is thicker and has a whole running down through the strand. My kids like to say it looks like a straw made out of pasta.  If you lived in Naples, Italy, you would call...

Yes, you can make this pitch-black Venetian classic from Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy – CNN

Editor's Note — Tune in Sundays at 9 p.m. ET to watch all-new episodes of "Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy." If you missed the Season 2 premiere episode where Tucci explores Venice, you can watch it now on CNNgo. (CNN) — Venice is a magical, mysterious, romantic place -- but let's address the elephant in the room: It has a reputation for bad food. Too many touristy places serving frozen pizzas and spaghetti Bolognese. Chef Giovanni "Gianni" Scappin, who was born and raised in the city, was excited to prove that stereotype wrong when Stanley Tucci visited the capital of the Veneto region in the second season of "Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy." Scappin is Tucci's old friend and coauthor of "The Tucci Cookbook." The pair met in 1996 when Scappin was the food adviser on "Big Ni...

The Judds, Ray Charles join the Country Music Hall of Fame – The Associated Press

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Ray Charles and The Judds joined the Country Music Hall of Fame on Sunday in a ceremony filled with tears, music and laughter, just a day after Naomi Judd died unexpectedly. The loss of Naomi Judd altered the normally celebratory ceremony, but the music played on, as the genre’s singers and musicians mourned the country legend while also celebrating the four inductees: The Judds, Ray Charles, Eddie Bayers and Pete Drake. Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, Vince Gill and many more performed their hit songs. Naomi and Wynonna Judd were among the most popular duos of the 1980s, scoring 14 No. 1 hits during their nearly three-decade career. On the eve of her induction, the family said in a statement to The Associated Press that Naomi Judd died at the age of 76 due to “the ...

State, Federal Agriculture Services Confirm Case Of Avian Flu In Sequoyah County – News On 6

All poultry exhibition, public sales and swap meets have been banned statewide, effective immediately, after an avian flu case was confirmed in Oklahoma. The Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry and the United States Department of Agriculture Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service confirmed the positive case Sunday. Officials said the virus, known as the highly pathogenic avian influenza, was found in a Sequoyah County poultry flock. They hope the ban halts any potential spread of the virus. The ban is set to end July 30, unless more evidence proves the ban should be extended. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said the recent virus detections in birds aren't a public health concern at this time. Officials stressed that it remains safe to consume poultr...

New eye-scanning app can screen people for Alzheimer’s, ADHD: researchers – Global News

By recording close-up images of eyes through an app, researchers at the University of California San Diego are making it possible for people to screen for Alzheimer’s disease, ADHD and other neurological diseases and disorders from the comfort of their own homes. The app uses a near-infrared camera, which is built into newer smartphones for facial recognition, along with a regular selfie camera to track how a person’s pupil changes in size. These pupil measurements can be used to assess a person’s cognitive condition, researchers said in a press release published on April 29.
