Met Gala 2022: Live updates from the red carpet – The Associated Press

NEW YORK (AP) — Well, hello first Monday in May. The year’s biggest night in fashion, the Met Gala, returns to its usual berth on the social calendar this year after pandemic upheaval. And if it feels like one of those what, already moments, it is. It’s been just under eight months since the last gala, an annual fundraiser that raises eight-figure sums for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. Pre-pandemic, about 600 A-listers from fashion, sports, music, film, TV, technology and beyond were invited. This year and last, the numbers were closer to 400. The 2020 gala was canceled. More than $16.4 million was raised last year. The starry event is the institute’s primary budget feeder. This year’s gala coincides with the opening of the second part of a two-part exhibit at the...

Vegetarian and meat-eating children have similar growth and nutrition but not weight, study finds – CNN

"Over the last 20 years we have seen growing popularity of plant-based diets and a changing food environment with more access to plant-based alternatives, however we have not seen the research into the nutritional outcomes of children following vegetarian diets in Canada," said Dr. Jonathon Maguire, the study's lead author and a pediatrician at St. Michael's Hospital of Unity Health Toronto, in a news release. The authors used data from nearly 9,000 children who were between 6 months and 8 years old and had participated in the TARGet Kids! Cohort between 2008 and 2019. TARGet Kids! is a primary care practice-based research network and cohort study in Toronto. Details on the diets these children ate were according to their parents, who answered whether their children were vegetarian (wh...

Man drinks dysentery smoothie to contract life-threatening disease, crippling diarrhea — for scientific research – TheBlaze

A 26-year-old man in Baltimore, Maryland, recently volunteered to drink a shot glass' worth of ominous, potentially disease-ridden liquid for scientific research, knowing full well it could cause him to contract an excruciating and life-threatening case of dysentery. It did, and what followed were "the worst eight hours" of his life. Yet Jake Eberts told Insider he'd do it all over again for both the $7,000 paycheck and the humanitarian cause. What are the details? Eberts downed the "dysentery smoothie" on April 5 as part of an 11-day inpatient study at the University of Maryland intended to test the efficacy of an investigational vaccine against Shigella, the bacteria that produces dysentery in humans. The study's aim was simple: to challenge 16 volunteers — some with the vaccine, some...

Bucatini all’Amatriciana Recipe

A Classic Roman Dish - Bucatini all'Amatriciana Like many of you, Meg and I watched the Stanley Tucci special on CNN called Searching for Italy. In the Rome episode, he has lunch at Armando Al Pantheon to enjoy their famous rigatoni all'amatriciana, one of Rome's famous pastas. I made it a little different and call it bucatini all'Amatriciana. Of course I had to run out and buy the ingredients so we could make it at home. Not a lot of ingredients and very simple to prepare and absolutely delicious. Let's look at some of the ingredients. Bucatini Bucatini is a pasta that looks a lot like spaghetti but it is thicker and has a whole running down through the strand. My kids like to say it looks like a straw made out of pasta.  If you lived in Naples, Italy, you would call...

Naomi Judd's daughters honored her during her induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame Sunday night, just one day after they announced her death.During the ceremony, Wynonna Judd and Ashley Judd reflected on the difficulty of honoring their mother's achievement so soon after losing her."I didn't prepare anything tonight because I knew mom would probably talk the most," Wynonna told the audience, Taste of Country reported. Wynonna and Naomi Judd performed for decades together as the mother-daughter singing duo The Judds. "I'm gonna make this fast, because my heart's broken, and I feel so blessed.
