Stars gather to pay tribute to late style icon Andre Leon Talley – including Anna Wintour – Daily Mail

The worlds of fashion and Hollywood came together today to pay tribute to the late style icon André Leon Talley, three months after he passed away at the age of 73. A memorial was held for the adored fashion journalist on April 29 at the Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem, New York, and numerous celebrities came to pay their respects, including Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss, Karlie Kloss, and even Anna Wintour - despite the fact that her and Talley's once-close friendship had turned sour before his death. The fashion journalist, who worked as Vogue's editor-at-large from 1998 to 2013, railed against Wintour two years before he passed away, writing in his memoir that the Vogue editor-in-chief dropped him from her inner circle for being 'too old, overweight, and uncool,' and claiming that she ...

He thought his chronic heartburn, acid reflux were normal. It ended up being cancer – Yahoo News

For much of his life, Lou Martinez popped antacids and took swigs of Mylanta to calm his frequent heartburn and acid reflux. “I went to bed at night, and the burning was incredible,” the 69-year-old from Staten Island told TODAY. “I like eating spicy foods. I indulge a lot, so I always say anyone would have had heartburn (with those habits).” But he had no idea that his chronic heartburn and acid reflux could turn into something more serious. When he started struggling to swallow food and drinks, he learned he had esophageal cancer. “For about a year, I was in denial,” he said. “I didn’t want to address it.” An inability to swallow Martinez was working on Wall Street in the 1980s when his heartburn started. At the time, he thought his love of food, including spicy and rich meals, contrib...

Bucatini all’Amatriciana Recipe

A Classic Roman Dish - Bucatini all'Amatriciana Like many of you, Meg and I watched the Stanley Tucci special on CNN called Searching for Italy. In the Rome episode, he has lunch at Armando Al Pantheon to enjoy their famous rigatoni all'amatriciana, one of Rome's famous pastas. I made it a little different and call it bucatini all'Amatriciana. Of course I had to run out and buy the ingredients so we could make it at home. Not a lot of ingredients and very simple to prepare and absolutely delicious. Let's look at some of the ingredients. Bucatini Bucatini is a pasta that looks a lot like spaghetti but it is thicker and has a whole running down through the strand. My kids like to say it looks like a straw made out of pasta.  If you lived in Naples, Italy, you would call...

American Idol winner Laine Hardy arrested by LSU police, accused of bugging students room – USA TODAY

"American Idol" Season 17 winner Laine Hardy was arrested Friday by the Louisiana State University Police Department after the singer was accused of bugging a student's room with a recording device. If found guilty, he could face a fine of up to $10,000 and or a prison sentence of two to 10 years.  The student told police she discovered the device on April 7 and did a Google search to discover it was a voice-activated audio recorder. You Can Control Yourself Better – Lifehacker

Photo: True Touch Lifestyle (Shutterstock) Sometimes, we make colossally bad decisions that mess up our lives for a period of time. We stay too long in the wrong job or a toxic relationship. We hang out with the wrong people, or make a risky investment that doesn’t pan out. There are times when our mistakes and failures can be traced back to a specific decision or event that threw us off course. And there are times when our personal and professional inertia is due to the small, almost imperceptible ways we conduct ourselves daily—unconscious micro-decisions that, taken individually don’t amount to much, but compounded over time, have a large impact on our lives: Namely, our habits—and the skill governing them: I’m talking about self-control (or lack thereof). While we often come to b...
