Tom Cruise’s ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ Blasts Off With Debut Screening at CinemaCon – Hollywood Reporter

Paramount Pictures added fuel to the final day of CinemaCon 2022 on Thursday by unveiling a trailer for Mission: Impossible 7, showcasing another death-defying Tom Cruise stunt and teasing Damien Chazelle’s anticipated Hollywood fable Babylon. But the true centerpiece was the first full showing of Cruise’s new Top Gun: Maverick that closed out the Thursday morning program. The long-delayed Top Gun: Maverick, returning Tom Cruise as the ultra-gifted and confident Capt. Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, was originally set to hit theaters in summer 2020. The COVID-19 crisis waylaid those plans. Paramount and Skydance subsequently moved the film several more times so that it could get a proper global theatrical release. The decision to treat theater owners to the firs...

Severe hepatitis outbreak in healthy kids possibly linked to adenovirus infection, WHO officials say – CNBC

An outbreak of severe hepatitis in healthy children that has caused liver failure in some kids might be linked to adenovirus infection, though further investigation is needed, World Health Organization officials said on Thursday. Eleven countries, including the U.S., have reported at least 169 cases of severe acute hepatitis in children aged 1 month to 16 years old with the largest outbreak in the U.K, according to the latest WHO report. At least 17 children have required liver transplants and one patient has died. Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver most commonly caused by viruses, but medications and toxins can also trigger the condition. "What is particularly unusual is that the majority of these children were previously healthy," Dr. Philippa Easterbrook, a WHO offici...

California declares seven cases of severe hepatitis after a child dies of suspected illness – Daily Mail

Seven more cases of severe hepatitis have been detected in California, and a child has died in Wisconsin, as the mysterious disease spreads throughout the country.   California's Department of Health said it had detected the cases in 'young' children, who had all been taken ill since October. It takes the U.S. total for suspected hepatitis cases to 27, with the condition now being spotted across seven states — mostly east of the Mississippi river. Wisconsin is the only state to report a suspected child death from hepatitis. If confirmed, it will be the first in the country and second in the world. State officials confirmed to the DailyMail.com that the child had developed the disease after being infected with the adenovirus. Cases of the peculiar illness have already been spotted in Alaba...

Bucatini all’Amatriciana Recipe

A Classic Roman Dish - Bucatini all'Amatriciana Like many of you, Meg and I watched the Stanley Tucci special on CNN called Searching for Italy. In the Rome episode, he has lunch at Armando Al Pantheon to enjoy their famous rigatoni all'amatriciana, one of Rome's famous pastas. I made it a little different and call it bucatini all'Amatriciana. Of course I had to run out and buy the ingredients so we could make it at home. Not a lot of ingredients and very simple to prepare and absolutely delicious. Let's look at some of the ingredients. Bucatini Bucatini is a pasta that looks a lot like spaghetti but it is thicker and has a whole running down through the strand. My kids like to say it looks like a straw made out of pasta.  If you lived in Naples, Italy, you would call...

Tom Cruise Reveals ‘Mission: Impossible 7’ Official Title – Variety

Tom Cruise’s seventh globe-trotting journey as Ethan Hunt will be called “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.” Paramount Pictures revealed the tentpole’s official title during its Thursday presentation at CinemaCon, the annual trade show for theater owners. Cruise, who is usually a regular presence at the convention in Las Vegas, wasn’t in attendance. Though in fairness, he attended last year’s CinemaCon to talk up the death-defying stunts in “Mission: Impossible 7” before the movie’s release date was pushed back by a year due to COVID-19. He was most excited about driving a motorcycle off a cliff in Norway, an antic he called “far and away the most dangerous thing I’ve attempted.” He may not have been in person at Caesars Palace, but Cruise loomed large over P...

Scientists warn any more or less than seven hours of sleep could leave you hurtling towards dementia – Daily Mail

Eight hours is no longer the ideal duration of sleep each night in middle age, according to science. Cambridge University researchers are now recommending people get seven hours — which they say is the sweet spot for general health and warding off dementia. The downgrade comes after studying the sleep pattern of half a million Britons aged 38 to 73. People who got more or less than seven hours per night scored worse in tests for thinking speed, attention span, memory and problem-solving. Until now, getting eight hours of undisrupted sleep was thought to be the Goldilocks zone for sleep, providing the best overall health benefits. But disruption to sleep — which happens to both those who sleep too little and for too long — is associated with a buildup of plaque in the brain — a tell-tale s...
