Foo Fighters Drummer Taylor Hawkins Dies at 50 – The New York Times

Taylor Hawkins, the hard-hitting, charismatic drummer for Foo Fighters, has died at 50. A statement posted to the band’s social media and sent by its representative confirmed the death, but did not provide a cause or location. The band was scheduled to play a show Friday night in Bogotá, Colombia, at the Festival Estéreo Picnic. Recognizable for his flailing limbs, surfer’s good looks and wide, childlike grin, Hawkins became a member of the band led by Dave Grohl for its third album, “There Is Nothing Left to Lose,” released in 1999, and has played on the group’s subsequent seven albums. Foo Fighters’ most recent LP, “Medicine at Midnight,” arrived last year as the group was celebrating its 25th anniversary, and in an interview with The New York Times, Hawkins was direct about his h...

Bucatini all’Amatriciana Recipe

A Classic Roman Dish - Bucatini all'Amatriciana Like many of you, Meg and I watched the Stanley Tucci special on CNN called Searching for Italy. In the Rome episode, he has lunch at Armando Al Pantheon to enjoy their famous rigatoni all'amatriciana, one of Rome's famous pastas. I made it a little different and call it bucatini all'Amatriciana. Of course I had to run out and buy the ingredients so we could make it at home. Not a lot of ingredients and very simple to prepare and absolutely delicious. Let's look at some of the ingredients. Bucatini Bucatini is a pasta that looks a lot like spaghetti but it is thicker and has a whole running down through the strand. My kids like to say it looks like a straw made out of pasta.  If you lived in Naples, Italy, you would call...

‘Halo’ Sets Premiere Viewership Record For Paramount+ – Deadline

Halo once was supposed to put Xbox on the map as a place for original scripted programming. Instead, the adaptation of the popular video game is helping to establish another digital platform, Paramount+. According to the Paramount streamer, Halo has set a new record as the service’s most-watched series premiere globally in its first 24 hours of release, topping the previous mark established by Yellowstone prequel 1883 in December. As usual, no numbers were provided; for reference, the record-breaking 1883 series debut on Paramount+ also drew 4.9 million viewers in a promotional linear airing behind Yellowstone on Paramount Network. We will get a sense of the scope of Halo’s viewership when Nielsen’s streaming rankings for this week come out. A Paramount+ original has yet to crack...

COVID-19 in San Diego wastewater starting to increase – KPBS

Early COVID-19 indicators hint that the virus’ transmission is growing in San Diego. Viral load in local wastewater typically goes up before the number of cases start to rise. Recent data from water treatment plants shows the amount of COVID is beginning to rise again. "I don't think people should be overly alarmed about this early uptick," said UC San Diego Health's chief medical officer Christopher Longhurst. "We’re keeping an eye on it and as a health system we’re taking precautions." Longhurst said up until about a week ago the viral load from Point Loma Wastewater Treatment Plant samples was steadily falling, even dipping under 1,000,000 copies per liter. The peak during the omicron surge was 47,000,000 copies per liter, officials are see...
