I lost half my skull after sinus infection spread to my brain – New York Post

A California martial arts instructor had to have half her skull removed after an unchecked sinus infection metastasized throughout her brain. She detailed her cranial catastrophe in a harrowing video with over 7 million views on TikTok. “Surgeons told me I would have been dead within a week if I hadn’t gone to the hospital when I did,” Natasha Gunther, 25, told News Dog Media of the harrowing ordeal. A before-and-after video, captioned “Sometimes all you can do is laugh right?,” shows the long-haired karate enthusiast sitting in a car before surgery. It then cuts to a pic of the gal post-op, in which she sports a pronounced dent in her head where surgeons had to extract part of her cranium. The fiasco began in late 2021 after the judo blackbelt reported to the...

Bucatini all’Amatriciana Recipe

A Classic Roman Dish - Bucatini all'Amatriciana Like many of you, Meg and I watched the Stanley Tucci special on CNN called Searching for Italy. In the Rome episode, he has lunch at Armando Al Pantheon to enjoy their famous rigatoni all'amatriciana, one of Rome's famous pastas. I made it a little different and call it bucatini all'Amatriciana. Of course I had to run out and buy the ingredients so we could make it at home. Not a lot of ingredients and very simple to prepare and absolutely delicious. Let's look at some of the ingredients. Bucatini Bucatini is a pasta that looks a lot like spaghetti but it is thicker and has a whole running down through the strand. My kids like to say it looks like a straw made out of pasta.  If you lived in Naples, Italy, you would call...

New Top Gun: Maverick Trailer Teases Icemans Return – TheWrap

Val Kilmer is back as Iceman in the newest trailer for Paramount’s “Top Gun: Maverick,” and apparently, he’s the reason Maverick is becoming a teacher. In the new footage, we meet the latest crop of the Navy’s top pilots, and according to one them, “Everyone here is the best there is.” So, naturally, they’re a bit cocky as they wonder who their new teacher is. Enter: Tom Cruise. As we’ve learned in previous trailers, Maverick’s reputation precedes him. But Jon Hamm’s Cyclone wants to make one thing very clear: that reputation isn’t what got him the job. “You are here at the request of Admiral Kazansky, aka Iceman,” he says coldly, as the footage gives a quick shot of present day Kilmer. “He seems to think that you have something left to offer the Navy. What that i...

Amy Schumer addresses backlash over Kirsten Dunst seat filler joke – Page Six

All the trolls need to take a seat. Amy Schumer defended her joke calling Kirsten Dunst a seat filler at the 2022 Oscars after some viewers dragged the comedian for being “disrespectful” to the actress. “Hey I appreciate the love for Kirsten Dunst. I love her too! That was a choreographed bit she was in on,” Schumer wrote on her Instagram Story Monday, adding, “Wouldn’t disrespect that queen like that.” During the 94th Academy Awards Sunday night, co-host Schumer, 40, approached the “Power of the Dog” star, 39, who was seated at a table with her partner and co-star, Jesse Plemons. “Here’s a seat filler,” the stand-up star quipped, gesturing toward Dunst. “Honey, do you want to go to the bathroom?” Schumer then pulled the confused-looking “Spide...

When Will Men Get Birth Control Pills? Your Questions, Answered – The New York Times

The National Institutes of Health is funding a clinical trial to test a contraceptive gel formulation called NES/T, which men would apply to their shoulders and upper arms once per day. The hormonal gel is currently in Phase II clinical trials, said Dr. Wang, who is one of the lead investigators. She estimates that, optimistically, the gel could be available in five years — but even that would be moving very fast, she said. Contraline, a biotechnology company in Virginia, is awaiting clinical trials for Adam, an injectable hydrogel that lasts for a year. The company bills it as “the IUD, for men.” Researchers in India are testing a nonsurgical vasectomy procedure known as Reversible Inhibition of Sperm Under Guidance, or R.I.S.U.G., which involves injecting a gel into the tubes in the pen...
