Many babies of mRNA-vaccinated moms have antibodies at 6 months; Moderate COVID tied to higher childbirth risks – Yahoo News

By Nancy Lapid (Reuters) - The following is a summary of some recent studies on COVID-19. They include research that warrants further study to corroborate the findings and that has yet to be certified by peer review. Many babies have maternal mRNA-vaccine antibodies at 6 months At six months of age, babies born to mothers vaccinated against COVID-19 during pregnancy are more likely to have antibodies against the virus in their blood than babies born to unvaccinated mothers who were infected while pregnant, a small study suggests. Researchers on Monday reported in JAMA on 28 six-month-old infants born to women who were vaccinated with two doses of an mRNA vaccine at 20 to 32 weeks' gestation, when transfer of maternal antibodies to the fetus via the placenta is at its highest, and 12 babi...

Its Wordle, But It Takes You Around The World – Kotaku

Screenshot: The Abe Train / Kotaku The Wordle phenomenon isn’t going anywhere yet. One of the best side-effects is the number of clones and spin-offs that are being produced by others inspired by the simplicity of the daily puzzle game. The latest to catch our eye (and there have been many others) is Globle, a geographic interpretation of the form, where you have to guess that day’s chosen nation. Like so many games made in Wordle’s wake, the UI design is very familiar, but what you actually do in Globle is very different. Presented with the entire globe, your challenge each day is to guess the selected country out of a possible 197. In order to make this vaguely possible, the game employs a sort of, “Warmer! Hotter!” system, by marking the typed-in countries in shades of red where th...

Cut nearly 300 calories a day by doing something you already do – CNN

That's the startling outcome of a randomized trial that asked young, overweight adults who typically slept less than six and a half hours to try to sleep about eight and a half hours a night for two weeks. Some of the study participants cut their intake by 500 calories each day, the study found. "This is almost like a game changer for weight loss or weight maintenance," said study author Dr. Esra Tasali, an associate professor of medicine who directs the Sleep Research Center at the University of Chicago. The researchers projected their findings into the future. They found that eating 270 fewer calories a day would translate to a loss of 26 pounds over three years, all by doing nothing more than getting additional sleep. "A small intervention you can do to yourself to increase or prese...

Razzie nominations 2022: Bruce Willis and Jared Leto get shamed – New York Post

Nominations for the 42nd Annual Razzie Awards have been announced — and it’s not good news for Bruce Willis. The action hero, 66, has been given his own special category at the upcoming awards show — which will name “the worst movies” of 2021 —after he starred in eight critically-panned flicks in the space of a single year. The special category is titled “Worst Performance by Bruce Willis in a 2021 movie” and includes every single film the actor appeared in over the past 12 months. The aging star — who was once a box-office drawcard thanks to lead roles in “Die Hard” and “Pulp Fiction” — made seven direct-to-video movies last year, including “Out of Death,” which has a 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Willis also appeared in “Midnight In The Switchgrass,” whi...
