‘The Bachelor’ Recap: And the Academy Award Goes to … – The Ringer

Contestants on The Bachelor are ineligible for most major awards. Although the Emmys does give out five awards for reality TV shows, but none for actual cast, and The Bachelor has never been nominated. But don’t tell that to Shanae, who begged on Monday night’s episode for either an Oscar, Emmy, or Golden Globe and probably deserved all three. She is one of the greatest villains in the history of The Bachelor. I don’t say this lightly. I have great respect for villains of Bachelor past—but with a truly despicable performance, she has cemented her legendary status. Monday night’s episode starts with Clayton trying to find out the true extent of Shanae’s temper tantrum from last week. Contestants tell him about how Shanae crashed their after-party and threw their hard-earned football ...

Moderna’s omicron booster was only as good as current vaccine in monkey study – Ars Technica

Enlarge / A vial of the current Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. Covid-19 Coverage View more stories In a small group of monkeys, an omicron-specific version of Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine did not protect against the omicron variant better than Moderna's current, highly effective booster. This finding casts doubt on whether a switch to variant-specific doses is necessary. The study was led by researchers at the National Institutes of Health and posted on a preprint server last Friday. The study has not been peer-reviewed or published in a scientific journal. It also has all the limitations of an animal study and only involved eight monkeys. The study's findings will have to be verified in human trials, which are currently underway. Still, there's goo...

After pulling songs, Neil Young is telling Spotify employees to quit their jobs – The Verge

Neil Young has told Spotify workers that the company’s CEO — not Joe Rogan — is the real problem, and is urging them to “get out of that place before it eats up your soul” (via Variety). This comes after Young pulled his music from Spotify, claiming the company was “spreading fake information about vaccines” through Joe Rogan’s podcast. Young’s recent fight against Spotify initially targeted Rogan’s podcast, but now he seems to be blaming Spotify’s leadership instead. In an open letter posted to his website on Monday, Young says that CEO Daniel Ek is all about “numbers - not art, not creativity.” Neil urges people to “ditch the misinformers” in his letter. Young ended Monday’s letter by urging Spotify employees to “be free and take the good path.” (I’d argue it’s difficult to ...

"Our show is in no way a moral tale to teach people how to live their life or what they should be doing." Euphoria is a great show — and it's also very intense and deals with some serious subject matter, including Rue's (Zendaya) issues with addiction. The anti-drug organization D.A.R.E. — which itself has a questionable track record as an anti-drug organization — recently issued a statement claiming that the hit HBO TV show glamorizes drug use and sex. Eddy Chen / HBO "Rather than further each parent’s desire to keep their children safe from the potentially horrific consequences of drug abuse and other high-risk behavior,"...
