How Death on the Nile became every publicists worst nightmare – New York Post

“Death on the Nile” promises a stylish, star-packed journey — but Disney has found itself up the creek without a paddle because of the new film, opening Friday. Costing more than $160 million, it is surely the most awkward film release in recent memory as several of the stars have either been canceled or the subjects of mockery and derision. “This film has become every publicist’s worst nightmare,” said an industry source. “It’s a project where everything which can go wrong has gone wrong — and there’s nothing to be done or said to make it better.” The new film “Death on the Nile” has proven to be an uphill battle for its studio to promote, because of scandals surrounding star Armie Hammer (clockwise from left), Gal Gadot, Letitia Wright and Russell Brand.Varie...

How to boost kids immune systems: Doctors say theres more to keeping kids healthy in winter than taking supplements – Yahoo Life

Before parents give kids supplements to boost their immune health, doctors say there are other things they should try. (Photo: Getty Creative)Whether it's COVID-19 or the common cold, parents know that children are always bringing home bugs — and not the six-legged kind. Daycares, mommy-and-me classes, playgrounds and doctors' offices are filled with germs that kids seem to pick up and spread to anyone and everyone around them. So what makes kids' immune systems different than adult immune systems, and how can we boost our children's immune systems so they spend less time being sick and more time enjoying life? Understanding kids' immune systems First, it's important to understand that kids' immune systems work differently than grown-ups'. The mucous membranes in a child's airways are c...

Broken heart syndrome cases spike during COVID, especially among women – 6abc Philadelphia – WPVI-TV

BROOKEVILLE, Md. -- Groundbreaking research by several top American medical centers has identified a COVID pandemic spike in cases of so-called "broken heart syndrome," a potentially deadly stress-induced heart condition that doctors say is disproportionately impacting women. "My heart felt like it was pounding out of my chest," said Mary Kay Abramson, 63, of Brookeville, Maryland, who was diagnosed with the condition last year. "It just felt like the blood just couldn't get through the heart fast enough." Mary Kay Abramson, 63, of Brookeville, Md., experienced an episode of broken heart syndrome after being furloughed from her job in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. (ABC News) An otherwise healthy and active corporate travel agent, Abramson said the episode occurred without symptoms ...

Luc Montagnier, Nobel-Winning Discoverer of H.I.V., Is Dead at 89 – The New York Times

The Nobel committee said it had no doubt “as to who had made the fundamental discoveries” concerning H.I.V. Introducing the winners at the award ceremony in Sweden, Professor Björn Bennström, a committee member, said, “Never before had science advanced so quickly from finding the disease-causing agent to anti-viral agents.” In his acceptance speech, contrary to the views of other AIDS experts, Dr. Montagnier said he believed that H.I.V. relied on other factors to spark full-blown disease. “H.I.V. ,” he said, “is the main cause, but could also be helped by accomplices.” He was referring to other infections, perhaps from bacteria, and a weakened immune system. After his work with H.I.V., Dr. Montagnier veered into nontraditional experiments, shocking and infuriating colleagues. One experime...

Bucatini all’Amatriciana Recipe

A Classic Roman Dish - Bucatini all'Amatriciana Like many of you, Meg and I watched the Stanley Tucci special on CNN called Searching for Italy. In the Rome episode, he has lunch at Armando Al Pantheon to enjoy their famous rigatoni all'amatriciana, one of Rome's famous pastas. I made it a little different and call it bucatini all'Amatriciana. Of course I had to run out and buy the ingredients so we could make it at home. Not a lot of ingredients and very simple to prepare and absolutely delicious. Let's look at some of the ingredients. Bucatini Bucatini is a pasta that looks a lot like spaghetti but it is thicker and has a whole running down through the strand. My kids like to say it looks like a straw made out of pasta.  If you lived in Naples, Italy, you would call...

The dinos have already won in Jurassic World Dominion’s new trailer – The Verge

At this point in the Jurassic World franchise, humanity’s more or less just there to make sure that the dinosaurs have enough to eat as they once again ascend to the top of food chains across the entire planet. Everyone in Jurassic World Dominion’s latest trailer can feel this undeniable truth creeping up on them — not because of some sort of deep sense about how the balance of power is shifting on the planet, but because they can literally see living dinosaurs running around in their backyards like they run the place. The new trailer once again introduces us to dino-whisperer Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) and former Jurassic Park operations manager Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) as the world continues to deal with the fallout of Dr. Henry Wu’s (B.D. Wong) groundbreaking research. ...
