Teen goes on life support with lung damage — vaping habit to blame – New York Post

A teenager ended up on life support after waking up with what she thought was a cold. But Juliet Roberts was actually battling lung damage and pneumonia caused by vaping since she was 14. The 18-year-old was hospitalized in January after struggling to breathe. She claims doctors told her years of constant vaping had ravaged her lungs and this, plus a reaction to a disposable vape, sparked pneumonia. After being rushed to hospital Juliet ended up on life support for five days, and still needs to be on oxygen. Now recovering at home, Juliet is still at risk of having a heart attack due to the strain on her weak lungs. The waitress decided to share shocking photos o...

Antihistamines may help resolve long COVID, report suggests – Fox News

Two healthy middle-aged females returned to almost their normal daily activities after taking daily antihistamines for long COVID, according to a recently published case report.   The researchers noted long COVID is a chronic condition when patients who are infected with the virus have persistent symptoms that extend beyond the typical time frame for the infection to resolve, but the illness currently doesn’t have any evidence-based treatments to guide how to manage it.    "Most patients tell us that providers have not recommended anything that has helped," said co-author Melissa Pinto, associate professor at the University of California, Irvine Sue and Bill Gross School of Nursing.  The report describes the first case of a White woman in her 40s with a past medical history of Raynaud...

Bucatini all’Amatriciana Recipe

A Classic Roman Dish - Bucatini all'Amatriciana Like many of you, Meg and I watched the Stanley Tucci special on CNN called Searching for Italy. In the Rome episode, he has lunch at Armando Al Pantheon to enjoy their famous rigatoni all'amatriciana, one of Rome's famous pastas. I made it a little different and call it bucatini all'Amatriciana. Of course I had to run out and buy the ingredients so we could make it at home. Not a lot of ingredients and very simple to prepare and absolutely delicious. Let's look at some of the ingredients. Bucatini Bucatini is a pasta that looks a lot like spaghetti but it is thicker and has a whole running down through the strand. My kids like to say it looks like a straw made out of pasta.  If you lived in Naples, Italy, you would call...

Review: The Book of Boba Fett is lots of fun but its really The Mandalorian 2.5 – Ars Technica

Enlarge / Temuera Morrison and Ming-Na Wen (supposedly) star as Boba Fett and Fennec Shand, respectively, in The Book of Boba Fett. Disney+When The Book of Boba Fett was still in production, creator Jon Favreau jokingly dubbed the spinoff series "The Mandalorian season 2.5." It turns out that wasn't really a joke. I mean, we knew beforehand The Book of Boba Fett would take place in the same timeline. I just didn't expect that four episodes into a seven-episode season, the focus would abruptly shift from Temuera Morrison's iconic titular character—i.e., the supposed star of the series—and the next two episodes would be spent mostly catching up with our favorite characters from The Mandalorian.   It was (ahem) an interesting creative choice that ...

Do you have brain fog after COVID? Doctor explains signs – NewsNation Now

Brain fog may be going under-diagnosed, worries a Los Angeles doctor, because people don’t recognize the signs. (Photo: Getty Images) (NEXSTAR) – One of the most common symptoms of long COVID may be going ignored by people who have it, worries Dr. Monique White-Dominguez, a physician with Sameday Health in Los Angeles. She fears brain fog is being routinely under-diagnosed because people aren’t aware of the signs. “The defining feature that a lot of patients have been mentioning is the inability to fully concentrate,” said White-Dominguez. In addition to a loss of focus, another important thing to pay attention to is your memory, the physician said. “The short-term memory seems to be affected most, the ability to recall what I just did...
