AI can predict signs of a heart attack within a year — from a routine eye test – KTLA Los Angeles

(Getty Images) LEEDS, United Kingdom (StudyFinds.org) – An artificial intelligence system is capable of spotting whether someone will have a heart attack within the next year — through a routine eye scan. A team from the University of Leeds believes this AI tool opens the door to a cheap and simple screening program for the world’s No. 1 killer. Their tests find the computer can predict patients at risk of a heart attack in the next 12 months with up to 80% accuracy. The breakthrough adds to evidence that our eyes are not just “windows to the soul,” but windows to overall health as well. “Cardiovascular diseases, including heart attacks, are the leading cause of early death worldwide and the second-largest killer in the UK. This causes ...

Willem Dafoe hosting Saturday Night Live is as weird as youd expect, and as funny, unfortunately – The A.V. Club

Willem DafoePhoto: Mary Ellen Matthews/NBC “To me, one man’s over-the-top is another man’s engaged performance.” “I’m not an actor, I’m a [very, very intense movie] star!!” Willem Dafoe jokes several times in his monologue about people thinking he’d make a great Joker. He’s not wrong, although here I’ll just say—enough with the Jokers. We’ve had enough Jokers. Heath Ledger was the best, Mark Hamill is a strong second, Jared Leto remains in last place, forever. That bafflingly misbegotten and overrated Joaquin Phoenix thing was not a Joker movie, I don’t care what anyone says. Ahem. Still, Dafoe’s Joker-obsessed fans have a point. As Dafoe himself noted, he’s not an unexpressive actor. As I’d add, Willem Dafoe has a crazy devil face whose alternately bulging and slitted ice-blue eyes,...

‘SNL’: Watch Katy Perry Dance With Penis Toadstools – Rolling Stone

Katy Perry brought a taste of Play, her new Las Vegas concert residency to Studio 8H. On an elaborate set festooned with towering, colorful mushrooms, Perry strutted and swiveled looking like a sexy Jolly Rancher (cherry-flavored, obviously) in patent leather assless chaps and a toadstool fascinator. Perry is definitely back on her bullshit in 2022. The first song she performed was “When I’m Gone,” a new, energetic, electro-pop confection co-written with the Swedish DJ, Alesso. But the focus quickly shifted to Perry’s backup dancers, jigging in line behind her dressed as giant phallic toadstools, occasionally flashing Alice in Wonderland-esque signs that read “Eat Me.” The pop singer returned to the stage in a puffy, powder-blue skirt for a slower, plaintive rendition of her ex...

Study claims vitamin D, fish oil supplements can help counteract autoimmune disease – Just The News

Researchers this week announced findings that vitamin D and fish oil supplements — two widely available and cheap treatments — can help to treat the wide illness category of autoimmune disorders. The study, published in the journal BMJ, claimed that "vitamin D supplementation for five years ... reduced autoimmune disease by 22%," while omega 3 fatty accid supplements "reduced the autoimmune disease rate by 15%." The researchers, based in a variety of institutions out of Boston, Mass., noted that "autoimmune diseases, characterized by an inflammatory autoimmune response to self-tissues, are the third leading cause of morbidity in the industrialized world and a leading cause of mortality among women." Those diseases "are chronic conditions with increasing prevalence with age and major...

Janet Jackson Says She Was Disinvited to Grammys, Told Justin Timberlake to Not Respond Amid Super Bowl Backlash – Hollywood Reporter

Janet Jackson directly addresses the aftermath and allegations around her Super Bowl Halftime Show with Justin Timberlake and the Grammys controversy during the second night of Lifetime’s two-part documentary Janet Jackson. While the first hour focuses more heavily on Janet’s response to the sexual abuse allegations her brother Michael Jackson faced, the second hour dedicates significant time to her 2004 Super Bowl performance, which resulted in a media storm and backlash from conservative politicians and CBS, as well as an FCC investigation. The retelling begins with Janet responding to an ask by Timberlake’s team about whether she would be interested in returning to perform at the Super Bowl with him in 2018. “When I think about it, would it be nice to be able ...
