As you can see ... the dude is jacked, looking super chiseled from the back and the front -- alongside a group of buddies, who are obviously keeping up with Drake. Or maybe he's keeping up with them? 🤷🏽‍♂️ Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media. Drizzy captioned the upload with, "The reward for hard work is more work…kno dat." Indeed, it does appear as though Mr...

COVID hospitalizations top summer surge in L.A. – Los Angeles Times

The number of coronavirus-positive patients has spiked dramatically across Southern California since Christmas — but some health officials are noting important differences in how the latest surge is playing out in hospitals compared with last winter’s devastating wave. In Los Angeles, Orange and Ventura counties, the coronavirus-positive patient count has more than doubled in the last nine days. And in L.A. and San Bernardino counties, the daily hospital census has surpassed the peak seen during last summer’s spike. Some officials remain concerned that hospitals could still face challenges as the highly contagious Omicron variant infects people at what experts are calling an unprecedented rate. But there are signs that the crunch at a number of Southern California’s hospitals may not b...

Why Stress May Be Your Heart’s Worst Enemy – The New York Times

It all starts in the brain’s fear center, the amygdala, which reacts to stress by activating the so-called fight-or-flight response, triggering the release of hormones that over time can increase levels of body fat, blood pressure and insulin resistance. Furthermore, as the team explained, the cascade of reactions to stress causes inflammation in the arteries, fosters blood clotting and impairs the function of blood vessels, all of which promote atherosclerosis, the arterial disease that underlies most heart attacks and strokes. Dr. Tawakol’s team explained that advanced neuroimaging made it possible to directly measure the impact of stress on various body tissues, including the brain. A prior study of 293 people initially free of cardiovascular disease who underwent full-body scans that ...

Reigning "Jeopardy!" champion Amy Schneider fired back at detractors over the New Year's holiday weekend. Schneider is vocal online about both the support and the negative comments she's received as a transgender woman, and specifically addressed some transphobic comments she received in a post this weekend.   "I'd like to thank all the people who have taken the time, during this busy holiday season, to reach out and explain to me that, actually, I'm a man," sh...

Omicron Variant Symptoms: Latest COVID ‘Making People Really Sick in a Different Way – NBC New York

As COVID-19 infections with the omicron variant of the virus surge out of control nationwide, emergency rooms are filling up again -- and one well-known New York City doctor says what they're seeing now is much different than the last two years of the pandemic. Manhattan emergency room physician Dr. Craig Spencer took to Twitter late Monday night to explain how the current surge is different -- both in who's coming to the ER and how they're being affected by the highly contagious virus. "Today it seemed like everyone had COVID. Like, so many. And yes, like before, there were some really short of breath and needing oxygen. But for most, COVID seemed to topple a delicate balance of an underlying illness. It’s making people really sick in a different way," Spencer wro...

Mediterranean diet named best diet for 2022 – CNN

All three of these diets reduce or eliminate processed foods, and stress packing your plate with fruits, vegetables, beans, lentils, whole grains, nuts and seeds. "I think it's important to note that the top three diets -- Mediterranean, DASH and flexitarian -- all offer variety, flexibility and few, if any, rules," said Gretel Schueller, managing editor of health for U.S. News & World Report, who puts out an annual ranking of diets, in an email. "All the diets that perform well are safe, sensible and backed by sound science. The diet winners also all provide adequate calories with a focus on vegetables, fruits and whole grains; a modest amount of lean protein, dairy; and an occasional treat," Schueller added. A panel of 27 experts examined 40 diets and ranked them on several categori...
