Could the COVID-19 pandemic end with this omicron surge as the virus turns endemic? Heres what experts say – WPVI-TV

SAN FRANCISCO -- It is "reasonably likely" to expect the pandemic to draw to a close as soon as a month from today, though COVID-19 is likely to stay, according to UCSF's Chair of the Department of Medicine, Dr. Robert Wachter. He expects infections to fall and community immunity levels to rise from a combination of vaccinations, antiviral medication and omicron infections as the pandemic enters a new phase -- turning endemic. RELATED: Debunking the idea viruses evolve to become less deadly over timeThis sentiment is echoed by other infectious disease experts in the field. "The end game is really bringing down the virus to low levels where we just live with it. And what omicron will do is bring the virus down to low levels in the community because it's causing so much immunity," say Dr....

I’m just saying this to remind you; these moments are precious and when I come out at night, I’m not just hanging out. I’m making memories. S–t, when I go out at night, I’m making history.” Dave Chapelle realized he never responded to a text from Bob Saget after the “Full House” alum died. APChappelle, 48, told the audie...

Pine Knob is Pine Knob again: DTE Energy Music Theatre reverts to original name – Detroit Free Press

Since 2001, the Pine Knob name had survived only in spirit at the venue rechristened DTE Energy Music Theatre, conjuring the old summer charm of loud and festive concert nights north of Detroit. Now, that classic name is headed back to the marquee: Pine Knob Music Theatre is again the official designation for the beloved Clarkston amphitheater, which routinely ranks among the top-grossing in the country. The Pine Knob renaming was revealed Friday morning by venue operator 313 Presents, following the expiration of DTE Energy’s 20-year naming deal in late December. New partners United Wholesale Mortgage (UWM) and Trinity Health were also announced as part of a multiyear agreement that will keep “Pine Knob” intact for some time to come. The company also unveiled a logo that harks back to the...

Bragging about not getting tested for COVID? Doctors call it dangerous, selfish – USA TODAY

"Know how to not get COVID? Don't get tested." That's the premise of some viral TikTok videos that mock COVID-19 testing in which users boast about not getting tested despite showing symptoms – a message doctors are calling "extremely dangerous" and "selfish." In a video posted by @ilovedessert100, the user writes, "People out here saying they're missing their fam (vacation) or (Christmas) bc they have COVID... can't test positive if you don't get tested." Similar videos have garnered hundreds of thousands of likes as well as copycat videos and affirming comments.  Dr. Eric Ascher, a family medicine physician at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York, says this messaging isn't just on social media, and it gives him chills.  "Being in family practice, I hear that from more patients than I'd like ...

Multiple sclerosis may be caused by common ‘kissing disease’ virus: scientists – New York Post

A virus that infects more than 90% of adults and causes the “kissing disease” has been linked with the onset of multiple sclerosis in a new study. Researchers at Harvard University have added further evidence that the same virus which causes the illness mononucleosis, aka “mono,” and commonly passed through saliva — hence “kissing disease” — may also encourage the development of multiple sclerosis (MS), an inflammatory disease of the central nervous system. The Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is a member of the herpes family, and one of the most common human viruses in the world. Some EBV infections may prompt fever, rash, sore throat, body aches and swollen glands — the conditions of mononucleosis. But new findings published in the journal Science on Thursday sho...

FX Reviving ‘Justified’ Starring Timothy Olyphant for New Limited Series – Hollywood Reporter

Timothy Olyphant is returning as U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens in a new Justified limited series. Confirming last year’s reports of a possible revival, FX announced Friday a new show titled Justified: City Primeval. The story is inspired by Elmore Leonard’s novel City Primeval: High Noon in Detroit. Here’s the storyline: “Having left the hollers of Kentucky eight years ago, Raylan Givens now lives in Miami, a walking anachronism balancing his life as a U.S. Marshal and part-time father of a 14-year-old girl. His hair is grayer, his hat is dirtier, and the road in front of him is suddenly a lot shorter than the road behind. A chance encounter on a desolate Florida highway sends him to Detroit. There he crosses paths with Clement Mansell, aka The Oklahoma Wildman, ...

Christina Ricci Learned Her Babys Name From Instagram – Motherly – Motherly Inc.

Choosing your baby's name is one of the most important, sacred first acts of parenthood. And, if you're Christina Ricci's husband, it's something that excites you so much that you forget to get your wife's consent before settling on a name and telling the entire world. LOL. Let's back up, shall we? Christina Ricci and her husband, Mark Hampton, welcomed their first child together, a daughter, back in December 2021. Hampton was the first to announce their baby's arrival by sharing it on Instagram like any proud papa would do. Except...he kinda shared the baby's name before he and Christina had officially agreed on what the name was. Whoops. During an appearance on Ellen this week, she explained that they'd settled on Cleo, but only briefly tossed around the name...
