GLAAD condemns Dave Chappelle, Netflix for his latest set of transphobic jokes – The A.V. Club

Dave ChappellePhoto: Netflix/Mathieu Bitton Dave Chappelle released a new comedy special, The Closer, on Netflix last night. Which means, with a depressing inevitability, that Chappelle also released a new set of jokes predicated on making fun of trans people, depicting them as thin-skinned bullies bound and determined to push poor, multi-millionaire comedians like Dave Chappelle around. GLAAD has now issued a condemnation of the special, which includes a loud declaration from Chappelle that he’s “Team TERF!” in addition to other transphobic material. Chappelle, in fact, devotes quite a considerable chunk of The Closer to talking about trans issues—i.e., the issue of trans people asking him not to peddle transphobic “comedy” that involves loudly declaring, “THAT. IS. A. FACT.” while t...

Health officials worry about flu season with pandemic ongoing, state reopening – KSBW Monterey

Health leaders are warning Monterey County could be facing a double threat this winter as COVID-19 continues to pose a serious threat and flu season is just around the corner.“We got a pass last year on a severe flu season. Many experts say that’s not going to be the case this year…” said Pete Delgado, president and CEO of Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System. The precautions we took last year to protect ourselves against COVID-19, like wearing face coverings, social distancing and a lockdown, also safeguarded us from a severe flu season. But things are different this year; the state has re-opened, mask requirements have been loosened, and more people are interacting.“We do suspect that now that kids are in school and businesses are open we may experience more transmission of inf...

AEW announces the signing of Bobby Fish – Cageside Seats

There was some question about whether Bobby Fish, who challenged Sammy Guevara for the TNT championship on Dynamite earlier tonight (Oct. 6), was working with AEW on a per appearance deal, or if he’d signed with the company. Fish took part in MLW’s Opera Cup taping last weekend, and prior to his being added to the TNT title picture last Wednesday it was assumed he’d be with Court Bauer’s company - at least in the short term. But eagle-eyed fans also noticed that in the image being used to promote his match with Guevara, he was wearing merch with his name and an AEW logo. It didn’t take long to solve this mystery though... The 44 year old former Ring of Honor and NXT Tag champ was released by WWE in August. He was stablemates with Adam Cole in NXT’s Undisputed ERA for almost t...

Israeli research shows clear antibody drop 6 months after 2nd vaccine dose – The Times of Israel

New research from Israel’s Sheba Medical Center demonstrates the waning of COVID-19 antibodies in the months following reception of two vaccine doses. The study, published Wednesday in the New England Journal of Medicine, followed 5,000 medical personnel at the hospital who were under observation for a six-month period after getting the two vaccine doses. It observed a clear, significant decrease in both IgG and neutralizing antibodies over that period. Researchers reported a significant drop over the first three months, followed by a more moderate decline over the next three months. Women generally developed a better initial antibody count than men and were thus somewhat better protected after a six-month period. The study found that after six months, a young healthy ...
