COVID-19 is evolving to become more airborne, says recent study – The Jerusalem Post

Newer variants of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, may become more airborne as they evolve, according to a recent study from the University of Maryland, published in the Clinical Infectious Diseases journal last week. People infected with the Alpha strain of COVID-19 are exhaling 43 to 100 times more of the virus into the air compared to those infected with the original COVID-19 strain, the study shows.  The research found that the viral load in the air from Alpha variant patients was 18-times more than could be explained by the increased amounts of virus in nasal swabs and saliva. cnxps.cmd.push(function () { cnxps({ playerId: '36af7c51-0caf-4741-9824-2c941fc6c17b' }).render('4c4d856e0e6f4e3d808bbc1715e132f6'); }); if(window.location.pathna...

ABC’s The Wonder Years remake fails to capture the magic of the 1980s original – The A.V. Club

Laura Kariuki, Elisha Williams, Saycon Sengbloh, and Dulé Hill star in The Wonder YearsPhoto: Erika Doss/ABC The Wonder Years was like few other sitcoms when it premiered in 1988. It had a cinematic feel with clever humor that recalled some of the better Woody Allen movies of the period (specifically 1987’s Radio Days), but there was a depth and poignancy beyond simple nostalgia. This extended to the now classic theme song, Joe Cocker’s 1969 cover of The Beatles’ “With a Little Help From My Friends.” Like The Wonder Years itself, the song is bittersweet and almost heartbreaking. It immediately threw down the gauntlet, separating the series from other 1980 family sitcoms with saccharine theme songs and stories. ABC’s remake of The Wonder Years, which premieres tonight, has little in c...

2 New Mexicans have died of Ivermectin toxicity, state health officials say – KOB

New Mexico health leaders are sounding the alarm on Ivermectin. Poison control said there have been 20 exposures to the drug this year alone – already double the usual amount. "We've had cases of seizures, hallucinations, coma, you know it can be very dangerous if you take a high enough dose,” said Susan Smolinske, director of New Mexico Drug and Information Center.  Officials say the majority of those exposures happened in just the past few weeks, and most of them to treat or prevent COVID-19. Health experts say the data just isn't there to prove it works. "Our medical advisory team has looked at this 3 times – still does not feel people should be taking it and of course, the FDA has not yet approved it,” said Scrase. Ivermectin is almos...

Woman Allegedly Raped By Nicki Minaj’s Husband Details How The Couple Harassed Her – HuffPost

A New York woman who is suing Nicki Minaj and her husband, Kenneth Petty, for defamation and witness intimidation spoke about the allegations on camera for the first time this week.  In an emotional appearance on Wednesday’s episode of Fox talk show “The Real,” Jennifer Hough said she was “tired of being afraid” and hoped to assuage her fears by continuing to “speak up.”  “I feel like the actions that were taken in regards to this whole situation have put me in a different type of fear at my age now and it was wrong,” Hough said. “I don’t want to be afraid anymore.”  Hough accused Petty of raping her at knifepoint at home in Queens, New York, in 1994, when they were both 16. Petty subsequently pleaded guilty to attempted rape and served about four and a half years in prison, accor...
