Coronavirus in Oregon: 12 deaths, 1,836 new coronavirus cases, more breakthrough infections found – OregonLive

Oregon health officials Thursday announced 1,836 new coronavirus cases and 12 deaths. In a newly-released report, the state said that of the nearly 12,000 new cases in the week ending Sept. 18, nearly 2,800, or 23%, were among those who had been vaccinated against the disease. That’s the highest rate since the week ending July 24, though the percentage has always hovered around 20%. “As COVID-19 cases have increased across Oregon, vaccine breakthrough cases have also increased, but at a much lower rate than in the unvaccinated,” the state wrote. “Vaccination remains the most effective tool to reduce the spread of COVID-19.” Of 2.5 million fully vaccinated Oregonians, just under 22,900 have contracted COVID-19. “The number of vaccine breakthrough cases identified in Oregon remains ve...

Daniel Craig says he was joking when he said hed rather commit self-harm than play James Bond again – Fox News

Daniel Craig is clearing the air. Back in 2015, the 53-year-old actor, known as "the blonde Bond," shocked fans when he offered up some graphic comments about his lack of desire to reprise the role of James Bond. When asked whether he'd be interested in playing the character again, he replied, "Now? I’d rather break this glass and slash my wrists. No, not at the moment. Not at all. That’s fine. I’m over it at the moment. We’re done. All I want to do is move on." That was the same year the Bond flick "Spectre" was released. It opened to less-than-stellar reviews and came after Craig had already hinted he was ready to hang up his hat. DANIEL CRAIG SAYS JAMES BOND SHOULDN’T BE A WOMAN, HOPES FOR A SIMILAR, FEMALE-LED ACTION FRANCHISE INSTEAD Daniel Craig in ‘Spectre.’ He cla...

The Masked Singer Recap: Season 6, Episode 2 — Pufferfish Unmasked – TVLine

RELATED STORIES Those of you who were eagerly waiting for The Masked Singer to resolve its premiere cliffhanger were rewarded Thursday: Episode 2 revealed Mother Nature’s identity at the very top of the hour. When she removed her very unnerving faux face, the green goddess was actually Independence Day‘s Vivica A. Fox (whose name definitely showed up in the comments for the premiere recap. You guys are GOOD.) The rest of the episode introduced two wildcard contestants — Hamster and Baby — and the Take It Off Buzzer. The buzzer is intriguing: If a judge thinks he or she is 100 percent certain about a singer’s identity, he or she can push the buzzer, and the performer must immediately remove their mask and go home. If the judge is right, he or she racks up two extra points towa...

Is the R.1 variant in the Bay Area? What to know about the highly mutated COVID strain – San Francisco Chronicle

A new coronavirus strain is making headlines this week after being linked to an outbreak at a Kentucky nursing home, where the variant, known as R.1, infected both vaccinated and unvaccinated people. The variant is still not widespread. Just over 2,000 R.1 cases have been detected across 47 states in the U.S. — including a few in California — since March 2020, representing less than 0.05% of cases nationwide. Its presence has tapered off since August of this year, data shows. But the variant — which was first detected in Japan — had not been found in Kentucky before the outbreak in March affecting 46 people according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
